Had no issue with my background check. It was simple and easy. And no complaints I had to do it. I have two Geissele 11.5 Super Duty’s I bought during the Covid nonsense. I am not a gun guy. Both are still in the box. I get them out twice a yearish to look at/mess with especially if a gun buddy is over to learn. But since I am not comfortable shooting them. They are locked up and never been loaded. Screw the idea I should not be allowed to own them. You admit they could be useful in defense. It is not the gun but the person using the gun that is the issue.

The problem isn’t a responsible owner, the problem is that if it’s legal for you, it’s legal for someone else who becomes a murderer. Whether you admit it or not, we live in a regulated society. All drugs aren’t legal, all vehicles aren’t legal, all alcohol isn’t legal, etc. We don’t live in this deregulated utopia that many think we should when the topic of guns comes up.

A pressure cooker filled with shrapnel, a fertilizer bomb, a suppressed scoped bolt gun in the hands of a trained precision shooter with good concealment and a means to move, a car directed into a crowd…

there are plenty of everyday things that are relatively unregulated that can do significant harm in the hands of someone determined to take lives and undeterred by the law.

However, none of those things have any real defensive purpose as, unlike a rifle with a dot, they are much more indiscriminate. A rifle bullet in the hands of a competent shooter with appropriate ammo for purpose will only harm the individual it is aimed at.

    Not even comfortable shooting them.

If only there were a 2A for tigers. I’m not comfortable owning one, but I would damn sure have one if I could. All penned up and such, until it wasn’t. Then, good luck to all!

A good tiger might save us!

Kind of unrealistic, don’t you think? Government can’t be everywhere at once and people are still going to do evil things. Thus, people will need the ability to locally protect themselves from evil things.

Personally, I respect the job our troops do and recognize the necessity of our military on the world stage. I generally have far more skepticism towards police and I’ll support any person’s right to peacefully protest whatever they would like to and have no desire whatsoever to take up any sort of arms against anyone, though I will absolutely do so to anyone who intends harm to me or my loved ones.

The comment referenced was "What is the next weapon of choice for an 18 year old male? Some other weapons are just as deadly and easier to conceal." Bombs are illegal and cars have high utilitarian value. I question the bolt action rifle's capability to take out equally large numbers in a short period of time. None of the worst mass shootings (Vegas, Pulse Nightclub, Sandy Hook, Texas church, etc.) were carried out with a bolt action rifle. Did the Vegas shooter have a bolt action among his arsenal? Maybe, I don't know. I acknowledge that the Virginia Tech murderer apparently used a hand gun(s).

SOS was a great college football coach, but he is an id*ot on this topic. And due to that I don't value his judgement on this type of issue that much.

As for the AR-15, two points. One, the second amendment gives me the right to have the AR-15, so I don't have to justify my decision to have an AR-15 to you or anyone else.

Two, while I would never carry around an AR-15 just casually in public, I do have an AR-15 at home for self defense and it is absolutely the type of weapon I want to have in a self defense/home invasion type situation. Quick rounds and high capacity to quickly eliminate an immediate threat. Range to eliminate a threat at a distance.

My property will be defended, and the AR-15 is the best weapon to keep my family safe. A far more reliable option IMO than your standard handgun. Like GatorBen I would get a machine gun if possible.

Thanks for clarifying that defending your property is more important than the lives of the rest of our children, as was so eloquently articulated by the late Joe the Plumber. God forbid somebody steal your big screen TV.

The 2nd amendment doesn’t really say you have a right to such weapons, but unfortunately our radicalized revisionist activist Supreme Court agrees with you.

And guns are regulated. But with a specific Amendment written into the Constitution by the founders of this country…it is a different issue.

I’m not sure what specific point you are trying to make, though I can grasp your premise.

Soft. I would get a tactical nuclear weapon.

Trying to get a gun-functioning tank for my commute.

The 2nd amendment absolutely says I have that right. God forbid I actually expect the rest of you to actually follow the rules and respect things like property that I worked very hard for and sacrificed a lot for. God forbid I expect people like you to not break into my car, a car that I worked a lot of overtime to pay off as fast as possible and keep in the best possible condition. Yes god forbid I expect others to actually respect my property.

If your child invades my property and threatens me and/or my family. Then damn straight protecting my property then is more important to me than the life of your child who chose to break the law and threaten me and/or my family.

You violate my property uninvited and threaten my family, in my eyes you forfeit ever single right you have. The only right you have at that point is a right to a quick death. So damn right I will protect my family and property with extreme prejudice.

More like gun manufacturers and retail outlets have taken advantage of liberal interpretation of 2A. Hopefully you will never have to face a home invasion and blast 'em with your war gun which must be loaded and ready at your bedside. IMO every ammosexual and AR15 loving gun [owner] should have to justify ownership and do it before the parents who lost children at Sandyhook, Uvalde, and Parkland.

I won't justify anything because the constitution clearly explains that I don't have to. But I would absolutely tell every parent of Sandy Hooke, Uvalde and Miami (why are we calling it Parkland, just call it Miami already) why I am justified and why they are wrong. And I will remind those parents that maybe if a teacher would've had an AR-15 or a hand gun, their child might still be alive.

I hate what happened to those parents, but at the end of the day people kill other people. Guns don't shoot off themselves and kill people. There need to be 2 resource officers, armed, at every school. Metal detectors at the main entrance with all other entrances locked from the outside. And teachers, if they elect, should be allowed to be armed in the classroom with at least a handgun. I'm even okay with facial recognition being used in the future if it would help at schools. Banning guns isn't going to solve the problem, it will make it worse.

Luckily I don't because I'm prepared. And when trouble comes (and it's coming in this country), I don't have to worry. You and people like you will be the ones, when trouble comes, that will wish they had protection.

Remember, when seconds count and are the possible difference between life and death, the police are only minutes away.

For all the good guys with a gun people here, every mass shooting incident has shown that when faced with the prospect of a shooter with an AR-15, these so called good guys decide on self preservation instead of saving the public.

Teachers don't have enough pencils and glue sticks in their classroom but you think they should be armed and spending their off time at target ranges.

    Absolutely certifiable.
