Simple opinion here. Missed our chance at kiffen 3 years ago but it wouldn't shock me if he made the jump since he seems to like to move around. If he came here it will not end well or on our terms. He would make football fun again for the time being and I'm ok with the consequences given our recent past. Maybe we could ha e a better plan for when it happened.
The reach UF has is simply nothing comparable to what Kiffin can attain at Ole Miss. Just the natural recruiting advantage alone is something Kiffin could never replicate there. It was easier for Spurrier when he had so many star athletes to pick from in the Florida high school pipeline. And even on the national recruiting scene, Florida still has more reach than Ole Miss. If you want to win national championships, you have to kill it in recruiting. That is true now more than ever in the SEC, because the SEC has never been as deep and loaded as it is today. You have to have a minor league pro team to get through the gauntlet of the schedule. Kiffin can't get that at Ole Miss. He can at UF.
Kansas State's coach Klieman is DeBoer 2.0 Four small college championships at North Dakota State in his 5 years there.. Now doing well at K State-not so easy to win there. Chris Klieman. Look him up Another name I'll be blasted on, but give a second thought.....Drinkwitz at Mizzou. I don't think he can win the ring there.
These threads assuming a 60 year old with a ~$35 million networth and a family is willing to come back into a high stress environment for any amount of money are wild.
He seems a bit more mature no doubt. My question is, why didn’t Bama take him. They know him quite well.
Some just like the game. If it’s only about cash which it doesn’t appear he needs , you’d have a guy collecting a check.
I know what "I" would do under those circumstances. But these guys are wired differently. So who the heck knows?
He said he would go to Michigan for $25 mil just a few days ago. For the right price he would come but I don’t think we’re in the neighborhood if we’re worried about Billy’s $26 million buyout. He said he makes $10 million doing the TV gig.
To some, I guess he is. To others, not so much? As the old saying goes: Douchiness is in the eye of the beholder.!
Saban let him go because he was distracted by his new HC role. He wasn’t fired due to performance. We have no idea where Lane was on Bamas list. If I was them DeBoer would have been my #1 so who knows the order behind.
Hiring Urban back for another go as our HC would be a big mistake. As the Gale Garnett song says, we sang in the sunshine and then (s)he went away — and left us with a mess. “Broken” is the word he used. Then he back-stabbed us from Columbus. I’m all for forgiving and still believe he should be in our ROH. But to try it again as our head coach would not end well. He is 14 years older and cannot possibly be in better health than he was when his health took him down over a decade ago. It didn’t end well then and there is zero reason to believe it wouldn’t happen again. To bring him back would be a foolish act of desperation. EDIT: thanks @gatorpjb for correcting me on Gale Garnett not Crystal Gale! Got my Gales mixed up
This The Kiffin Express | Page 18 | Swamp Gas Forums it is in the Pac 10. To me there’s no such thing as four power conferences, but it’s damn sure better than the Sun Belt. My point with Kiffin is he actually worked for these people for a few years and they didn’t want him maybe they just think debour better.
