You are the one saying MAGA would be voted out of existence if he loses. I dont think he will become a GWB type figure in defeat, anathema to the party. Even if voters are inclined to move on, he will hold enough support where people have to kiss the ring or do MAGA cosplay to get endorsements or win voters loyal to him. There's no one waiting in the wings to take leadership of the party that isnt MAGAfied already. And to be honest old twice loser Trump is still a more viable candidate than Ron DeSantis or any Republican that has taken the lesson of Trump to be "be a huge unlikeable asshole."

 

If he’s alive he may still run depending on his condition, but he’ll be an afterthought. He’s exhibiting substantial decline and in four years he’ll be 82 then. Statistically he has about a 40% chance of dying by 2026/27.

 

Most people statistically don't have on-demand elite tier healthcare though. He obviously wont have the vigor at 82, but he's barely done anything since he got shot and still has basically a coin flip chance of being president. I mean I hope you are right and all, but the Republican Party is extremely weak and craven, and there arent many people to seize the mantle. He could easily hold a rump of like 30% of the party and hold off a crowded field of people trying to do a Trump impression.
