Interim provost starts next week. I assume a couple more heads will roll within a few weeks of that. But that’s just a guess on my part.

A completed audit into Sasse’s spending never existed

Former UF president Ben Sasse said a completed audit found no wrongdoing when it came to his spending. But according to public records, the audit never existed.

In an Aug. 16 X post responding to a previous Alligator report on his expenditures, Sasse wrote, “It is my understanding that the Audit Committee of our board did its work thoroughly and without any findings of concern.”

A request from The Alligator for any internal audits requested during the fiscal year 2023-2024 was returned without any indication of a UF presidential audit. Expenditures related to Sasse were not among the 17 audit requests listed in the report.

There is also no documentation of a current, future or completed audit from the state.

Bad in that some meaningless people like us will think poorly of him but nothing bad will actually happen to him and he'll still get all his money and then line up some more lucrative do-nothing jobs from somewhere else.

Just remember how a partisan poster here said how happy he was that his tax money was being well spent finally because it wasn't a libby doing it.

You know, I think some level of luxury spending is acceptable, especially when it comes to dealing with donors, but the take you are describing is indefensible at any level of spending.

All of Sasse's spending on anything is far out of line with previous expenditures on the same things. Like I'm sure the tailgate spread in the president's box is always going to be nice, but when you are blowing away what the last guy spent who was definitely not uber-eatsing Sonny's ...

$900 per person is not extravagant given those were likely large donors. That’s a drop in the bucket and likely money well spent depending on who the attendees were. In my work I could spend 25k easy on a party/outing for clients and my budget isn’t what UFs is

He doubled up what Fuchs spent on catering, where we buying Publix grab and go sub platters before?

No clue but spending $900 a person to me isn’t out of line on its face. Depends on who the attendees were. Lot of info is unknown here outside of cost.

Maybe one could argue that the previous admins weren’t spending enough, but I agree that if this is the story for every single aspect of spending, it’s likely to be malinvestment at best.
