I think we just stopped paying WSJ.

UF probably realized that kids are going to attend UF anyway. Not worth it to spend money for advertising in some rankings peeing contest. Money should be spent elsewhere, like CBN's buyout

Yes. If you read how they came up with the rankings, DEI had a big impact.

It was 10 percent of the total and our score went up.
Again, it was one badly calibrated value that impacted us.

How do they gather information on grad's starting salaries?

Our student outcomes(70%) which I see as graduation went up as well as our diversity (10%) is up. So it's the (20%) learning environment that crashed our ranking.
Why? Does anyone know what parameters make up this portion?

it was this. We went from 84 to 55 on 1/3 of the overall score It’s the metric I talked about upthread. Essentially we are average (assuming 50 is average) against other schools with similar kids, which, the way this is set up, is a penalty. Being on par with UNC and Michigan isn’t as valuable as an FIU grad beating a UAB grad in earnings, despite a UF grad making significantly more than both. It’s why their results are so wonky.

    • Salary impact (33%): This measures the extent to which a college boosts its graduates’ salaries beyond what they would be expected to earn regardless of which college they attended. We used statistical modeling to estimate what we would expect the median earnings of a college’s graduates to be on the basis of the exam results of its students prior to attending the college and the cost of living in the state in which the college is based. We then scored the college on its performance against that estimate. These scores were then combined with scores for raw graduate salaries to factor in absolute performance alongside performance relative to our estimates. Our analysis for this metric used research on this topic by the policy-research think tank the Brookings Institution as a guide.

But the 'researchers' have a list of students and they're somehow looking up their salaries?

When you promise kids they will have their loan contracts torn up, they don't care how much they pay and the schools charge more than they should.

The rankings depend on wheat criteria are selected and the weight given to each. This is the reason that different sources reflect different ranks. I.S. Mews & World Report has U.F.tied for number 6 for public universities.

Wing, you are my brother in Gator Basketball, but please educate yourself on the issue. Yes, the Gator Bait slogan was a UF tradition, but it also has a sinister past. Please try to understand the impact it has on other people. I don’t think keeping Gator Bait as a sports slogan/chant is important enough to ignore the history of the term.

Or the recent grads are voluntarily giving that information out. Never underestimate naivety.
