well, he wasn’t gonna start over Trask in year 1. That I get. It was year 2 where he sat nearly all year behind Jones. Many coaches just are so slow to make changes when it comes to qb.

So we got 1 year under Napier. That’s it.

And tge first year typically has some rough edges. Get it over now. The goal is championships, not total wins during rebuild years.

Sat him for Jones. So easy, a basement dweller can see it.

    In my head--- UF
AR was a generational QB and Napier didn’t know how to coach him

I know Napier wants to bring DJ along slowly but I just fear this is very different than 10 years ago. You have to play the best players now even if they are freshman. There are too many other schools in their ear saying “come and play here and you’ll start right away and make millions “.

I'm not sure I would consider AR a generational QB. I mean, if a generation is maybe 25-30 years, we've had Tebow, Trask, and Wuerffel in that period. I believe all of those guys were better than AR. Not arguing the questionable coaching part, but, the generational QB title seems to get used about as often as the "storm of the century" reference (every decade, or so). But, still, I do get your point Tigator.

You left out Rex. AR might be a generational player, but he damn sure isn't a generational QB.

Yep, AR is a big guy that runs fast, has a strong arm and was drafted very high. But, his interceptions to passing TDs ratio doesn't put him in that class.

Don't think I would put DJ Unglued ukelele on that top tier list.

True, but it's not only who is calling the plays, but who is EXECUTING them.

I rate QB's on perifrial vision, ability to see what's going on around them, as they focus on the progression. AR's achilles heel to me is his lack of field vision. and though he's improving for sure, it may be a physical limitation, not his athletic ability quite possibly. I still root for him...and wish him the best. That P field vision is a sacred blessing of a few. and Lagway likely appears to have a good dose of it.

I just want to note as we talk about all kinds of players that the NFL got it wrong with Tebow. He had a chance and went to the second round of the playoffs with a spot of 0-4 but they weren’t quite ready for the option qb.

I truly and you can go say I’m wrong but I was the only one on this whole forum who said at his worst that Driskel would go to the NFL BUT I believe if given the chance, Tebow would possibly have been an All Star HOF baller. It’s on topic because we are making what the nfl thinks the end all in this thread.
