I don’t like forcing coaches. If the season in the rear view mirror doesn’t paint the picture for him, it’s not worth it.

I don’t think he ever needed an eight or nine wins this year. I think seven and he would’ve been just fine but losing to Miami makes it way harder to get to seven.

7 was a good mark when the schedule was thought to be harder

Our schedule has gotten considerably easier. Kentucky, FSU and TAMU were top 25 level teams beforehand (FSU top 10). The reality is they may be not even in the top 50

Losing to Miami was bad but, being dominated and flat out taken to the woodshed was what made the loss such a bitter pill. Our team had the opportunity to make a statement. They had a large enthusiastic (briefly) home crowd behind them but, played uninspired and predictable football. We made a statement alright: a negative statement.
Hopefully our Gators will find their way this Saturday. It’s going to take some work to get the taste of the Miami game out of my system.
    Go Gators!

I hear you, Lagway will never have some of Tebow's traits, but Tebow doesn't have some that Lagway has. It will be interesting to see how he does in SEC play and what our OL allows him to do. I watched that Raiola kid play against CO, who are also a very bad team outside of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, who they were comparing to Mahomes and was ranked ahead of Lagway, and that kid is several tiers lower than Lagway right now. The difference is stark.

Personally I think DJ makes the opposition defend the entire field and honor his ability to run. That in of itself creates so much more space for the playmakers.

There’s only a few games I expected to win and a few I expected those lose. I thought the rest of hard fought games could go either way and I could live with that if it looked like progress. Now if the rest of the season goes as I was hoping and Miami makes it to the semi finals by beating a top four team in the playoffs, hmmmm , maybe not so bad. I don’t however think Miami is a great team and we got manhandled.

i get it, these coaches are some of the most competitive people on the planet, but look at mullen.
@ some point, you look in the mirror and just say, wait I can fail and make 30 million guaranteed.....failing sounds like a dang good option right now....

No, I’m saying that head to head, they embarassed us in year 3 of the respective programs. They are as good as any team to use as a measuring stick, given the totality if circumstances

That gets us to about six. Still some good teams left on there. Tennessee may look better than I thought. Could be some other surprises too.

AR’s drive to win tgat Utah game was mostly done with his legs. He still couldn’t hit a quick slant by seasons end.

Well that’s because Napier tanked the team. A top 25 team would win 8/9 with our schedule

I agree completely. Just saying that after the Utah game we were ready to crown AR as the next Tebow. Didn’t work out that way, right? So Lagway shows a ton of promise but only has 1 game against a Div 2 team under his belt - let’s hope he lives up to the hype.

With the offensive offensive line, DJ won't save Napier's job. AR didn't do as well with a better line so I doubt DJ will do better with a worse line. If DJ was The Flash, then yeah just run him the whole game, but alas he isn't and his legs can't win games. They can keep us competitive but against good defenses, he will get shut down. It's all on the offensive line. That right side is so bad, I'd design plays to take advantage of how bad they are. Definitely run all my plays to the left side of the line, even to the point you make sure we are lined up on the right hash mark.

Well stated! But the last team I remember Gator Nation acknowledging as the better team was the 1995 Cornhuskers. For the rest, the excuses were legion, exactly as you stated. They cheated, the refs, weak conference schedule so they could rest their starters all year, a fluke, SOS didn't care, the weather, a Gator player sucked, Jon Hoke, ad nauseum...
