I mean… then why debate? There is about 15% of the American electorate that can be persuaded. He should have been making his case to those people or attacking Harris but he got bogged down in horseshit of his own making all night long. He’s usually a bit better at not devolving into total defensiveness but she really got him going on stupid shit tonight - while heading him off at the pass on immigration. It was shocking how well she took control honestly.

No, I’m just noting that it’s not actually a position (or at least not one that isn’t changeable on a literally daily basis). The part of that word salad I left out was the used to support gun buybacks, then insisted no one wants to take any guns, but endorsed an assault weapons ban literally two days ago, but now insists no one wants to take any guns again.

 

It was surprising how well she handled it. Almost like the mods were in on it!

 

She isn’t for personal ownership of assault guns but she is for personal ownership of guns and mentioned she and VP Walz are gun owners - as i recall. I think it’s pretty clear even if you disagree with the assault gun ban/buyback.

 

Clearly, Trump performed so well that it scared Taylor Swift into endorsing Kamala Harris! Trump playing 4-D chess.

She was vague on “strengthening Obamacare”, but she had a handful of specific economic proposals at least. I don’t even particularly agree with any of them, but $50,000 tax exemption for startups, $6,000 extra child tax credit for 1st year babies, and the 1st time homebuyer assistance are at least specifics put on the table. I agree it wasn’t much. I thought she utterly crushed Trump on the abortion issue, on that one - what specifics does she need other than basically bring back Roe and to call out states that have gone batshit crazy?

Contrast that with Trump, after all these years, who still is promising a “concept” of a plan to replace the ACA. I was surprised Harris didn’t come back with a “guess we’ll learn about your plan’s details in two more weeks” quip.
