You can say the same thing for the cop too. They’ve also gotten worse because of folks white knighting for them as well.
One of the GA news stations did a piece not long ago about several south GA departments funding around 70% of the entire city revenue through traffic tickets and civil forfitures. Sounds a lot like Waldo PD. RIP lol
@philnotfil Road Pirats - Lenox, GA is 3 square miles and collected $1,300,000 in 2022, 73% of the town's budget.
This is almost literally the plot of Rebel Ridge. Ok, I've been hammering this movie a little too hard.
I watched it last night. Didn't find the plot or dialogue to be remarkable, but I liked the cast and thought it was entertaining enough.
I was more referring to what appears to be very congested traffic. A McLaren has no trouble...until its bumper to bumper.
I’m not a Hill fan in the slightest but nothing you’ve written even comes close to excusing the police in this situation. I find it particularly perturbing the line of thought you used with this statement: “Agree. But we know better. So why ask for it with a terrible attitude?” Police are expected to behave professionally. They don’t get an out for it because they act unprofessionally far too often, and citizens shouldn’t be required to tread on eggshells as a result. That is about as far from protect and serve as you can get.
In my time working in various jobs the last few decades I’ve had many times that customers were rude to me. Never once body slammed anyone. Doesn’t matter if he was behaving like an ass. Just hand him the damn ticket and be done with it. Why do police have to act like this?
You don’t have to walk in eggshells, but you don’t have to be an asshole either. Hill is an entitled and violent individual that makes terrible decisions on a regular basis. This is par for the course for him.
Being a cop literally is just another job. They need to learn to control themselves or find another line of work that they can handle emotionally.
No, being a cop is not like other jobs. I don’t know what line of work you are in, but dealing with a pissy customer isn’t the same as dealing with lowlifes, and criminals. If I screw up in my job, my company might lose a customer, my bonus might get impacted. When police officers screw up, people often get hurt. Sometimes badly. Do you know any cops? Meet some, ask them about their jobs.
This seems like a good argument for holding cops to a higher standard, but you seem to be arguing they should be held to a lower standard?
On this particular day, those cops' conduct was far worse than Hill's...not even close. I would not want them on my police force and would terminate them.
Several body cams have emerged. One showing Hill speeding past the officers. Yes he was speeding but nowhere near the speeds claimed and nowhere near the turnpike. (As o e of the cops claims multiple times in one of the body cams). He literally passes the cops, they quickly chase him down and he immediately pulls over. The official citation says "near 60 mph" (in a 40 mph zone) with no seatbelt. Apparently not even radar confirmed. He was cited for CARELESS driving, NOT reckless. The cop that kept claiming they had tailed him since the Turnpike is flat out full of it. I know Tyreek hasnt earned the benefit, and I'm a bit biased as a Dolphins fan ...but in this case, he didnt do anything we havent all done when late to work
