Every time Mertz goes down in a heap now, everyone will be holding their breath until he gets up. He’s not built to take hits and once you get one concussion, apparently the next ones can more easily follow. DJ went into the Samford game with a shoulder issue. He also took several big shots during the game, one in particular rung his bell. It looks like he might be a guy that is not afraid to mix it up and be physical. At some point here UF could very well be operating with the 3rd team QB.

And our defense was bad ass. Neal busted that poor boys ass. He got ejected, but that was an old-school good hit

DJ definitely has to learn to preserve himself. Do not be in another Andrew luck.

This has more impact than any poster. I greatly respect Showstoppa and respect his perspective...

Shannon Snell was a guard for the Gators since the SOS era and played with Grossman and Leak, IIRC. He remembers the era well, and always made valid points. When Showstoppa posted, most of us listened.

    Ya had to be there...

Yeah, he does. I watched Raiola who was chosen by some services as the top qb recruit, and he was not as careful as Lagway, but what a huge difference in talent between Lagway and him. His 2 big plays of the games were a severely underthrown pass to an open receiver who had to retreat from the end zone to get the ball. The other was a pass that shouldn't have been thrown and was a sure interception but for the horrible db letting it bounce off of his body and then juggle scooped it to the receiver to run into the end zone. Shedeur Sanders was incredibly impressive compared to Raiola.

DJ made some great throws. Sure, our line may get him killed Saturday instead of making him look good but given time, he’s got “it.”

Aaron Murray reviews DJ and says start Mertz, but have a short leash as Lagway can sling it.

Absolutely but some posters like myself have considered guys like Shannon snell, Anzalone, Dexter, spurrier and others very public comments about Napier and now lagway when making our opinions. Shannon snell is extremely well spoken and along with the other Gator greats not usually ones to create division or be unreasonable.

Not even close to true clown. DJ was playing their starters. Commentators even said it live when they were impressed by him. Don’t push a false narrative.

They offer a good perspective from afar. Us UF fans are a bit PTSD’d right now and tend to respond in the extreme to everything.

Sanders threw one of the worst pick sixes I’ve ever seen but otherwise looked impressive running for his life and getting sacked.

Jesse said that, but I looked at the player numbers for corroboration. It was the 4th Quarter and they were well ahead.

"Clown?" Lol. Is that how you should respond to someone with whom you disagree?

    Let's wait for Texas A&M...

Good description of the situation. He was about as effective as he could be under the circumstances.
