Gov. Ron DeSantis is demanding that elected Florida Republicans join him in opposition to the proposed amendment that would enshrine abortion rights in the state Constitution. And he wants some of their campaign money to help fund the effort to defeat Amendment 4.

DeSantis laid down the political law for Republicans on Saturday night in Broward County: His party’s elected officials must publicly oppose the proposed referendum on the November election ballot. Some haven’t, which DeSantis depicted as a sign of weakness.

“It’s important that all of our political leaders, you know, stand up and be counted. Right now. You know, there’s some people that just, it’s like the political winds. Like if the winds are against you, you run and hide. That’s not leadership, that is not what’s going to make this state great,” DeSantis said. “You’ve got to stand up even when it’s not easy, even when you’re taking the arrows, stand up and do what’s right.”

So far they've sent people knocking on doors to verify signatures and now this. The scary part is what's next?

This is what we've had to live with as Floridians. Every time the people want to speak, they spend our own tax dollars to squash our voices. Once this passes, DuhSantis and his band of religious zealots will go to court, or pass laws to water it down. Moderate republicans, independents, are joining with dems in support of a woman's right to choose. Only radicals don't want to understand how the role of healthcare and privacy plays in this argument.

If you want abortion on evil democrat terms right up to birth if the doctor goes along, win it in the legislature. For me, all tactics below illegality should be used to defeat this evil proposed constitutional amendment that will likely pin the worst levels of abortion on Florida residents for generations.

LOL! Republicans outnumber democrats by over 1,000,000 registered voters and the difference is steadily growing. We republicans know who broadly reflect our values and it isn't anyone with a D behind their name on the ballot or dem sponsored amendments to the Florida Constitution.

    Go Get'em Governor DeSantis!

Why can't the anti-choice crowd stop lying about abortion rights?

To me, the fact that Amendments 3 and 4 will likely be supported by a majority or super-majority of Floridians underscores how out-of-step Florida's elected representatives are with public opinion on these issues.

Because they can't sway voters by telling the truth. They have to fear monger and tell lies to even make it close.

You really need to get out of the echo chamber of the Bad Faith people. No one is aborting right up until birth. After 24 weeks it is considered an early delivery (preemie) and that child is put in the NICU.
Meanwhile, women who suffer a miscarriage are being sent home to deteriorate instead of the ER doc doing a D&C to clean out the rest of the TISSUE. Some women are developing sepsis and THEN the doctor will try to save her life. In Alabama neonatal labor and delivery departments are shutting down and doctors leaving.

I'm guessing you have no idea how pregnancy, even today, is a health risk for a woman and there are many reasons for an end to a pregnancy. You just go with what you think Jesus tells you, which you misunderstand anyway.

It's always a choice, and never forced on anyone, unlike you zealots who stand in judgement and force possible death and destruction on women.

Here is what you're missing. Not every registered republican is a radical. So with 70% of the country wanting a woman to have the right to choose, you can count on all those extra republicans to vote yes on both 3 and 4.

Also, there is a movement called Republicans for Harris, not Democrats for Trump. You really can't be so confident.

Every democrat that is in favor of third semester abortions, murder of babies, is a radical. A large majority of the country want restrictions placed on abortion, not third semester abortions on demand.

Insofar as amendments 3 & 4 goes, neither should be passed and I hope both fail. Again, if you want this as the law, elect you officials and pass laws. Making a joke of the Florida Constitution is not the way to do it.

    This is what you want:

VA Gov On Abortion: “Infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired” (youtube.com)

All it would take on the day of birth is for the mother to change her mind, could be stress or anything outside of medical, and the physician could sign off and abort the baby. I'm calling it murder as infanticide is too pretty of a term for murder of the innocent babies with no chance to defend themselves. One murdered baby is too many.

The US could have twice had a federal law with abortion allowed up to the 20th week. It was the democrats that twice voted this down. Your presidential candidate voted nay both times:

Voted Nay on: Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (S 2311)

[IMG] Cloture on the Motion to Proceed Rejected (51-46, 3/5 majority required) on January 29, 2018
Proposed amending the federal criminal code to make it a crime for any person to perform or attempt to perform an abortion if the probable post-fertilization age of the fetus was 20 weeks or more. The bill proposed providing exceptions for an abortion: (1) that was necessary to save the life of the pregnant woman, or (2) when the pregnancy was the result of rape or incest.[60]

    Kamala Harris @KamalaHarris
We must keep fighting to defend and expand on the progress made for women’s rights and reproductive health, not pass a 20-week abortion ban. Add your name if you agree: http://kamala.to/No20WeekBan
    10:11 PM · Jan 26, 2018

A supporter of abortion rights, Harris voted against a bill that would limit abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. As California state attorney general, she launched an investigation of anti-abortion activist David Daleiden, whose undercover videos later sparked charges of breaking privacy laws. His supporters said Harris' relationship with Planned Parenthood was a conflict of interest. Source: PBS News hour on 2020 Presidential hopefuls, Jan 21, 2019

Overturning Roe v. Wade would have become a moot point with the passage of a federal law. It failed as a result of the democrats voting nay in the senate twice.

Kamala Harris is a pro-abortion supporter of murdering babies. You can't get more radical than that.

Now, you ask right thinking Florida citizens to saddle the state of Florida with a Florida Constitutional Amendment that allows the murder of babies. I hope the citizens of Florida recognize how radical this is and votes it down.

There's nothing more democrat than voting directly by the public at large. Takes any gerrymandering or personal bias by elected officials out of the equation.

Typical of an undemocratic party member to first throw democracy out the window. The reason it takes a 60% or higher yes vote to pass is it's not democratic.

This falls under hoodwink the majority as was done in Ohio with as little debate as possible and hope for a 60% approval. Governor DeSantis is working hard to see that doesn't happen in Florida.

Again, Go Get'em Governor DeSantis, get amendments 3 & 4 voted no with your outstanding leadership of the opposition.

And there's the win at all costs Republican mentality. Don't let the people vote - only let the representatives vote so that my side will win.

Try not lying about elective abortions on the due date or babies being killed after being delivered. Maybe more people will be receptive to your arguments.

LOL! When your party actually tries to do literally ANYTHING about guns in schools killing our children instead of going “oh well, that’s life” and proudly wearing their AR-15 pens, then we might take you all somewhat seriously when you say you’re “pro life”, otherwise, GTFO here with this nonsense.

Actually a lot of voters want to protect the lives of the most innocent and understand abortion is not about healthcare but about killing for convenience.
