The first part of my post related to Addazio saying the same thing more or less as Saban. So we've had 2 .5 years of this culture, which is great for all things except the urgency and toughness. Urban is/was a great coach, and i would take him in a heartbeat... However my comments about NIL are direct more towards coming in and trying to change the culture, not establishing it from day 1. We all heard the story about Urban coming in and gathering our team together on day 1, chaining the door, and ripping them a new ahole. The rest was history. All i'm saying is, IMO at this point Billy is the only one who could change it with the present team (if he wanted to) without wholesale defections next NIL portal. I;m not saying that's a reason to keep him, just that it's going to be rough sledding for us unless our team has a miraculous recovery..

He's just being nice and not saying what he really thinks. There has been an obvious culture established. The culture he has created is that of the good loser. You know the old adage...show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser.

I hope you saw the movie called "Miracle on Ice"! The 1980 USA hockey team was not exactly hustling in a pre season (so to speak) hockey game against the Eastern block B team. After the game the head coach had the entire team skating until they were puking and then he kept on making them skate. Epic moment for that team. It worked becuase we won the Gold in 1980 against an unbeatable Russian Team that blew out our NHL all stars. You can't reward losing or lack of total effort! Remember the UT game in the swamp in 1995. We were getting manhandled by Tenn. and Weurfell left the pocket on OUR own 5 or 7 yard line and fumbled and UT picked up the football and waltzed into the endzone. We were then down by 18 points with a few minutes till halftime. Spurrier chewed Weurfell out SO BAD I tohught there is no way Weurfull could recover from that ass chewing. Weurfull scored a touchdown on every possession until the game was over. We scored 62 points. SOS said it was the most impressive offensive explosion he has ever been a part of.
BN is so soft on his players. You can see it in their effort. That's why he needs to be fired. plus he sucks as a play caller.

It’s been obvious the football culture sucks under Napier

He talks “culture” but he means corporate culture, not football culture.

Sure it’s a good thing if it’s “fun” and people don’t get in trouble. But you also need accountability, discipline, leadership, etc.

It’s too late. Napier can’t reinvent himself, the players won’t take him seriously

Urban joined the ranks of other failed NFL coaches like Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier.

Except in the world of college football today that doesn’t work anymore. Most players figure they can get a raise through the portal and could not care less if coach kicks them out. The college game is much more like the NFL than the NCAA in 2005. It’s even substantially different than it was when Meyer was at OSU just a few years ago. Meyer’s head games and tactics didn’t work in Jax, and I don’t see them working in college anymore.

Not that it hasn’t always been so, but now more than ever coaches need upperclass leadership to change and maintain a culture.
