One last look at Saturday night's highlights before we turn our attention toward the Aggies who visit The Swamp to start SEC play this coming Saturday.

Here's what TAMU has done so far this year:

    2024-09-08 at 12.25.25.jpg

Remember, Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois Last night so the jury is still out on TAMU . . . but they will be tough, no doubt.

We needed a win, for the players confidence. It's been awhile.
Going to be a good hard fought game with Gators pulling it out at home.

Something I wrote in another thread...A&M gave up rushing yards (total and per-rush) against both ND and McNeese that was worse than what we gave against Miami.

If you think our DL got pushed around by Miami, you'd have to conclude the same for A&M's two games.

That shows you what Vegas thinks of Napier. The Gators are up against a team with a first-year head coach that already lost at home to ND (which lost at home to NIU), and the Gators are 4-point dogs at home. See, maybe it’s not just disgruntled Gator fans in their moms’ basements who think we have already seen the best of what Napier can do.

Miami likes to run b/t the guards for whatever reason, and Jackson and Boireau stood pretty strong on those runs. If Miami had bumped their runs outside more they would have feasted on us. CBN need ND on speed dial to be ready for this one.

I am not sure how I feel about next weeks game. The playcalling (whoever it/they is/are) is less about burying opponents and, instead, giving new life and hope to the opposing team. I don't hate BN, I just feel nothing has changed and doubt it ever will. I am not sure if the quarterback should be Mertz or Lagway. Lagway gives me more hope of moving the offense, but I realize stiffer competition could rattle the young man. I think if Mertz plays against TAMU we have less of a chance to win.

This game likely goes how Conner Weigman goes, imho. In their first game against ND he was not good, at all. Last week against McNeese State he was much better, all be it against a far weaker opponent. 11/14 125yds 2td. He must have a good game Sat for aTm to win.

Elko’s defense will be very formidable, understatement. It also won’t hurt them that 2 of their defensive coaches including the DC came over from UF. Not only do they know the Florida defense intimately. They also know the Florida offense very well. This will help them, very interested to see what Billy does to counter that.

This is a BIG game, another must win/can’t lose game for Billy, imho.

I can't wait until they release the depth chart and it says Mertz or Lagway for QB. Will be a freak out around here.

This is something to keep an eye on, imho. He took a few big shots last night too.

Hell...learn 6 plays and you know the Florida offense and rest assured regardless of the in game score Billy will keep doing the same things over and over regardless of the outcome. There are no top secret things defensive coaches can provide...Billy hasn't countered anything since he has arrived unless you want to refer to being counter to winning. I imagine one week later he is still working on a counter to that water bottle but will just keep running the same ole twist one way twist the other give up and twist again routine.

We've lost our last 6. Samford doesn't count. TAMU was ranked last week. I took TAMU and the points. (small bet) My heart is with the Gators. My brain is with my wallet.

CBN will be standing at the podium Saturday repeating the same worn-out excuses he used in his 18 previous conference losses.

I can guarantee one thing……his water bottle will have a pre-loosened cap.

Last night’s game did nothing to improve my confidence in Napier’s abilities as a HC. Lagway looked good but he won’t see anything resembling the defense he skewered last night.

Napier’s play calling is predictable and quite frankly, abysmal. To be 1of 3 on fourth downs against a lower level FCS tells you all you need to know.

We are entering Week 3 of the season and oddly, after following the Gators since 1965, I’m looking forward to the end of the season and the ensuing regime change (which should include the AD).

I don't think the AD will be let go any time soon. I can no longer say the same about the coach. Remember, I've consistently said he would be here at least until 2025 . . . "unless something unexpected happened." Well, it has and the room temperature has dropped significantly. That's all I can say.
