The match with USF has started and neither Stuckey nor Martin have seen the floor. That's all I've got.
I'd be interested in knowing why HS POY Lauren Harden hasn't seen the floor yet. I'm also concerned about Kira Hutson still being out a year later after shoulder surgery. I don't expect our tall drink of water sophomore whose mother played for UF, can't remember her name, to be ready yet after having surgery back in the spring, can't remember the surgery either. She may end up being a medical redshirt. Scrappy may be able to get us some answers as he attends insider meetings before matches.
I don't think neither Hutson nor Madi Gravlee have been medically cleared to play. Also, middle blocker Gabby Essix, who has played quite a bit over the years, has a knee issue, I think.
Thanks, I forgot about Gabby Essix. She, Auguste, and Rothe are quite the threesome at MB plus Rothe is showing her MB/OB HS rating was right on the money.
Winless south Florida and unbeaten Florida currently tied 2 sets a piece with south Florida ahead of Florida 12-9
UF wins 3rd set 25-12 USF wins 4th set 25-23 USF wins 5th set 15-10 South Florida now 1-3, Florida 3-1.
Just don't understand why changes are never made when things are going poorly and at times even sloppy. Zero reason why a DS should be in the game but get pushed out of serve receive. Zero reason why a different hitter like Harden should not have gotten some reps when so many poor decisions were made outside. Zero reason why a perfect pass needs to be dumped, especially when it's not a quality one hand put down but rather a weak two hand set. When someone passes a nail right to the setter box just feed the middle and get the point. We clearly had better middles but didn't get enough out of them. The service errors and shanked passes from the same players every year is getting old. Play a freshman, would rather lose with them getting reps than lose by the same mistakes from the same position. It's gonna be another long year if they don't get healthy fast. That was not a great USF team. I see 4 more losses before SEC even starts Without Stucky and Kennedy it's gonna be real tough to get any quality wins. That definitely is not a top 10 team, probably not even top 25 without Kennedy. Roth was awesome playing in her spot but the trickle down affect of moving her means another move elsewhere. Our backcourt should not be this inconsistent with all experienced DS players back there. Kennedy covers so much court and is able to save alot of those soft blocks that go back rather high. Lots of work needs to be done should this team not get healthy and if they do, hopefully it doesn't take too long to get in sync
This match was Hyde-Jeckyl-Hyde-Jeckyl-Jeckyl First of all the setting was not good. There were too many sets close to the net, and many that were off to the right or left. When Alex Roth is rotated out we only set the left side and hit directly into blocks. I do not know why Alec is not a 6-rotation, but she is not, but we need her to be. When she is out we have no one on the right side. Jaela and Amaya had some bright spots, but not enough. I will say Amaya has improved and looks to be in the best shape of her career. Isabel Martin' is a bright spot, but she does not get enough sets. She is good on the back row also. Elli was peripatetic tonight. She tried to do way too much, even when other players were there to make the play. Our serving was off and on. We had too many service errors, even one on set point. The turning point in the match was in the 4th set. We were up 12-7. We had a service error and then USF went on an 8-1 run and we never recovered. Adjustments were seemingly non-existent. It is one match and we will see what tomorrow brings. As far as injuries, Kennedy's seems to be low and not the dreaded high ankle sprain. She was in a boot tonight. There is a lot of talent not able to play right now.
