I agree that he needs to win the next four games, and I don’t think he will. The results of this offseason demonstrate he is either unwilling or unable to prepare this team.
George and Manuel? I thought George and Barber played decent. The glaring issues came at RT and TE blocking. Our C was pretty good too.
I was/am a Billy supporter, but I find it more and more difficult to ask others to be patient. I am hoping for, but not optimistic about a turnaround. The team was simply unprepared and coached poorly. Hard to excuse that.
I looked at the video again. The two Gator blockers who wiffed on their assignments were numbers 75 (Kamryn Waites) and 77 (Knijeah Harris). Both have at least two seasons at UF. Gator 70 (George) actually contained his man on that play. Barber was not in on that play. The Gator Center (Slaughter) did a good job of blocking on that play. Here is a link to that play:

Since it's the weekend, wait for the Samford game. Just because. DJ might make it interesting, but regardless of the result, let him play the rest of the way. But don't base the coaching decision on how DJ performs. BN is unfortunately, absolutely not up to the task, and he has proven it game after game after game. Just stop already. Fire him Monday. Make Billy Gonzales the interim HC. He's been an assistant coach on multiple Gator staffs including following Urban and Mullen from Bowling Green to Utah and then the Gators. Good TV presence and personality. He can audition for the Head Coaching job this season. Callaway could step in as OC but let Coach Gonzales make the call. It's way past time to let BN go. It can't get any clearer. Billy Gonzales is the guy. Just do it.

I am not saying you are incorrect. You could be right. My take is, since Miami basically knew the Napier's scheme and play calling tendencies, they had this play well covered. At the beginning of the play both safeties had the goal line to the ten yard line equally covered at the left and right hash marks. My opinion is that this route was attempting to split the zone. Also, Mertz may of unintentionally threw into double coverage. When you look at the video, the Gator receiver the two safties, and the ball were converging together at the right hash marks near the 5 yard line. A higher pass would of created a jump ball situation for all three players. I believe that the real issue here, was the Miami Safety who was covering the left hash marks near the 5 yard line on this play. If you look at the video you will see that he is approaching the Gator receiver at the hash marks on the right side of the field as the ball was approaching all three players. At this instant the ball is less than five yards away from them. For him to get there that quick, he correctly guessed who was the intended receiver. My assumption is that his guess was based on Napiers play calling. Also you will see a wide open Gator receiver at the left hash marks near the 5 yard line. The Miami defender opted to make his play on the intended receiver.

His first 3 years 8-5, 13-2, 11-3. Deboer is 105-12. Dabo first season 9-4, 2nd 6-7, followed by 13 seasons with at least 10 wins. Saban 34-24 at MSU. Really, he's the only one who is close to developing slowing. Lanning is in his third year as a HC and is 25-3. Not really any projects there.

That's nonsensical. It appears you are calling project coaches "first year" coaches at their school. So yeah, why include saban? (And btw, I don't think saban had necessarily panned out. He was 34-24 and won zero championships). To me it is a strange use of "project.". I think the coaches mentioned turned out to be 5 star players not project players. But let's discuss the championships won by those project coaches. 4. Smart 2 dabo 2 On the other hand you have saban 7, Meyer 3, Bowden 2, SOS, Mack Brown,Jimbo, harbaugh etc .. So even the underlying premise (assuming it is first year coaches at a school) is flawed.

Where Napier was a Saban poser (and for that matter, most of Saban's assistants were posers), Kirby not just took notes, he understood them. When he got to Georgia, he immediately installed The Program in one off-season. Success when Mark Richt had none. Since the Pandemic, dominating college football. His program has improved each year and now it's a machine. Put it this way, let's hear it from the man himself: “I think he’s gotta change the culture. I mean the culture there is not what it needs to be in terms of the intangible things that you play with. The toughness, the discipline. To control the line of scrimmage. They’re just not doing those types of things. I know he took over a tough situation but hopefully, you can establish that culture in year three.” Saban was also asked if Florida has the skill position players to compete by Herbstreit, who offered that he doesn’t see it on film. “The one thing that I look at with all these teams, the first thing I look at is what kind of quarterback they have, can you win with the guy and what kind of skill players do they have to make explosive plays. Other than turnovers, explosive plays equal outcome of games better than anything else. I don’t see that at Florida.” That's from the man Napier aspires to be. Pretty blunt assessment, to say Napier has to change the culture. I thought he was hired to do just that? What has he been doing for 2 years?

I was just pointing out that most of those successful coaches were projects, they had no track record of success as a head coach before they got hired at the school they became successful at. You've added a few more coaches to the list: Meyer- two successful stints as a head coach before getting hired at Florida. Bowden- ten years as a head coach before getting hired at FSU. Spurrier- three successful years as a head coach before getting hired at Florida. Mack Brown- fourteen years as a head coach before getting hired at Texas. Jimbo Fisher- no experience as a head coach before getting hired at FSU. Project. Harbaugh- two successful stints as a head coach before getting hired at Michigan.
