The father of Apalachee High School mass shooting suspect Colt Gray told investigators this week he had purchased the gun used in the killings as a holiday present for his son in December 2023, according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.

I mean holy shit. You get questioned by the FBI about your son making threats to shoot up his school and then you BUY HIM A F&@$?@$ GUN?

Guy should spend the rest of his life in jail with his son.

I don’t recall the Michigan parents being made specifically aware by the FBI of their kid being a threat to shoot up a school before they bought him his gun. Did that happen in the Michigan case too?

A lot of speculation online Colt Gray is trans. Why was he/she on FBI's radar for a year?

The Crumbleys had contacts from at least the school. Having contact from the FBI about threats and still letting the kid have a gun is an even higher level of stupid (although fundamentally isn’t different, as both examples should require locking down or eliminating the kid getting firearms). No doubt there needs to be charges here.

I believe Lanza killed his mom.
He also taught him to shoot as way to wean him off video games. He was also being bullied at the time. Very bad message to send your kid.

I stated that before it came out that he had bought the gun for the 13 year old who already made threats (i.e., not a storage issue). Perhaps you can try to read the whole post next time. We were discussing the lack of safe storage laws at the time. That is why I said "there is a pretty good chance that simply leaving his gun available won't be enough to charge him." It has now come out that he was a more active participant by buying the gun for the kid, not just being negligent in storage (which isn't illegal in Georgia). There is a reason that the police are currently emphasizing that he was "knowingly allowing" his son to have the gun in contrast to what we were discussing.

But thanks for coming by! Better luck next time!

It’s just insane to me that it’s legal to buy your 13 year old kid an AR-15. Absolutely insane.

Eliminate violent video games, fix the mental health problem (easy!), and create fortress schools with moats and man-eating crocodiles. DUH!

You're not wrong, but the real solution to gun violence in schools is having schools with only one door.

I heard that from the Republicans.

Of course you were just talking out your ass because you didn’t have all the information. Shocking…

Maybe next time don’t say something that was shown to be wrong a few hours later. I’d say do better but we both know that won’t happen.
