Their screwed up view of this world is astonishing. As long as they get their way, which is all they want in the end, they are fine with spreading T&P every couple of months to make themselves feel better.

Nope, had to tank that bill that contained millions to help fight fentanyl at the border because Trump wanted an election year talking point.

Yeah, your disingenuous attempt to create a strawman argument isn't going to work. Here's what I said :

....Just look at your own state; pubs eliminated background checks for private handgun sales. Gee, I wonder if more firearms will make it to criminals if we minimize or eliminate background checks? We could cite more examples in numerous places.

So I didn't attribute background checks to this case in any way whatsoever. Your dishonest attempt to imply that I did is just your subtle way to try to imply : "You people call for background checks when they wouldn't even help."

No offense here, but you're wrong. Background checks are being reduced (by Republicans), and the NICS system needs improvement.

So please take your false attributions and strawman arguments, in support of denying any and all rational gun legislation, somewhere where people are more tolerant of gaslighting and dishonesty. That place isn't here though.

Did you know that they don't even require insurance for your car here in Florida that would pay if you injure or kill someone or their family? Maybe they should tackle that problem first or at least while they start requiring guns to be insured for the same thing. There are about 3400 people killed in Florida in car accidents and about 1000. a year murdered with guns a year in Florida. Many more people are injured in car accidents than by guns in Florida each year as well.

Sure, I think that people should have to carry personal injury liability for cars. How about we do both cars and guns and take care of internalizing externalities for both products? Deal?

When did they eliminate background checks here in Florida for private sales? I know they are not required but you are saying the Republicans eliminated them so tell me when they did. That or maybe you are gaslighting and telling lies on here. You call me dishonest and tell me what I can do here.
You are a big tough keyboard bully I see. I guess your are the king of Gatorcountry forums now. :ninja3:

Sounds good to me. People like me that are in the insurance business and attorneys should all be in favor of that. Seriously though I don't have a problem with it if companies would write it at a reasonable rate whatever that might be, but it will not help with the gang banger type shootings. For accidental shootings a persons homeowner liability should cover damages if a person has coverage but not intentional shootings. Most responsible people have bodily injury coverage on their auto even though it is not required. I am not sure there would ever be a company that would underwrite coverage in case a gun was used to purposely kill someone.

Ahh, but see, here is the issue: "reasonable rate." As you said, what you consider a "reasonable rate" might not get a company to underwrite that coverage. That is because of the massive payout that would be needed. So, instead, we have gun owners who essentially make the rest of us pay for their product decisions, by making sure the externality remains external.

And yes, economic incentives are quite effective at limiting things like grey markets and the ease of gun theft, which makes illegal gun shootings easier.

No problem there. I have shot a whopping lot of deer, mostly work related, and used a bolt-action for every one. If one practices a bit, is disciplined about when to shoot, one does not need half a banana clip to make the kill.

Of course you know what it looks like. It looks like the UK, Australia, Japan, and other developed nations that do not have the same kinds of gun violence issues we have in the U.S. Our nation has failed on this issue and will continue to do so as long as people deflect to mental health, video games, rap music, lack of SROs, etc. Anything and everything except the abundance of people killing machines.

Let’s ignore all causes of death that are a lower number than car accidents. If it causes less deaths than car accidents, it’s not important enough to legislate. Sound logic.

I hunted for years and only once or twice used a modern firearm. A compound bow was my weapon of choice, did a bit of muzzle loader hunting just never could get into modern firearms. I do own a shotgun, don't think I even have any shells in the house. I quit hunting when I tore my rotator cuff and could no longer draw my bow. Have been out target shooting with my 50 cal hawken and my navy colt a couple times since. Love shooting the black powder stuff.

Why? Because smoking was falling for decades prior to the MSA for numerous reasons, including most importantly, widespread public understanding of the health risks, increased taxes, and non smoker rights, and the rate at which it was falling remained the same after the MSA. There were some good payoffs in the MSA for advertising changes targeting youth which was needed but to claim a lawsuit at tail of a 35 year decrease was a major driver in the decrease of US smoking doesn’t ring true.

With 400,000,000 guns in circulation - and two trillion rounds of ammo - wouldn’t it just be easier to close down schools ? Why do you people need to make things so hard?

The Biden administration has done quite a lot, and fentanyl deaths are down to 67,000 over the last 12 months.

and it does appear like the FBI always knows or has knowledge of the bad guy.
Georgia high school shooting suspect was previously interviewed after FBI received reports of online threats

Yes, guns are part of the problem. So the question remains how do we keep guns out of the hands someone like Colt Gray?

Maybe you should learn what you're talking about before you call someone a liar? (Maybe you should also note that I was addressing a specific poster, who lives in a specific state - North Carolina.)

Here, I'll help since you've clearly not done your research. You're welcome.

North Carolinians came one step close to no longer needing local sheriffs’ permission to buy a handgun, after the Senate voted Thursday to repeal the state's pistol permit law.

The bill would create a loophole allowing people to buy pistols without a background check. Senate Republicans dismissed concerns and voted down multiple amendments to the gun bill that Democrats suggested.

NC Senate passes repeal of pistol permit rules. Critics fear new background check loopholes

Granted, the bill was vetoed by the Democratic governor, but.....

...Republicans in the Senate are already pledging to use their supermajority to override Cooper's decision.

Gov. Cooper vetoes bill eliminating background checks for handguns but fight not over.
