He was always great at building a staff. He can still do that, and if he gets guys on staff who are in tune with today's CFB, then it won't matter because winning has and will always look the same.... and that's all that guy has done is win.
If he cares about legacy this is something I could see Urban doing. Sure he coached at OSU but Florida was his peak as a Coach. He flew so close to the sun here, and nearly built an absolute dynasty before things took a turn, and Bama picked up all the pieces. If Urban is on and locked in I have little doubt he could have things humming in short order. Has a chance to go out a hero, in a place that really needs one. It’s a hard opportunity for somebody who believes in themselves to turn down, especially when he didn’t really stop Coaching on his terms.
That's exactly what Andy Staples said in his latest podcast for On3... That is if you're talking about Urban Meyer.
I think he would take the job if it were offered to him. That's the issue though, no way this soft admin will ask.
The kids are all grown and out of the house. He has nothing else to do now and will go out an absolute legend. There is no running to another great job if he burns out at 65-66 years old. This is why I think he will stay until he's ready to fully kick back and retire.
Coach Meyer...I know you're a retired man and likely are a little tired of the gardening around the house and getting yelled at by the wife and yes I know you've likely read all the posts addressing your situation directly with a bunch of basement dwellers opining as to your future as coach with the University of Florida Gators in 2025 or dare I say next week or two. Some people have suggested you're done...some say you're washed up and the game has passed you by.... The smart ones (not the ones in the basement) truly appreciate what you've done as a head coach and know you still can be the best in the game and put the school you once turned into a juggernaut back where it rightfully should be. We know you miss the passion of your players and the opportunity to turn youth into successful dedicated men and that sitting at home pulling weeds isn't what a football coach like you was meant for. You were meant for Saturdays in the Swamp, 90,000 screaming Gators, team workouts at 3am, kicking Georgia's asses, calling timeouts with a minute left to let your players savor the moment and make a point, and then breaking your opponents back with a 101 yard kickoff return just when the other team thought they were back in the game. These are the things you surely miss and were made for...its in your blood and every cell of your body that tells you my challenge from the Gator nation for you to once again lead the Gator nation is one worth accepting and you will be welcomed back home where you belong.....Go Gators!
Is he still on Big Noon Kickoff? Probably gives him enough "entertainment" on the road. He ain't coming back.
