The projects work out more than the proven coaches. Day, Smart, Deboer, Dabo, Lanning were all projects.

I'll add to this - they also played hard. Their players had the right intensity, they weren't just going through the motions. Unless something dramatically changes over the next two weeks, they whip our butts...

Not matter what formation the Gators O is in, it still sucks ass.
The Offensive line is still stuck in Blocking 101 and is not showing any signg is moving up.
I suggest that you look at the video of the play were Mertz got a double bitch slap from two Miamia D linement.
The Gator Right guard and the Left tackle did nothing but back peddle on that play. They never made substantial contact on those guys. Basically, they took their Matador robes and did an Ole to wave those two defenders into Mertz.
Not a shoulder pad nor a helmet made contact on those two defenders.
Instead of blockers, they were more like tour guides to direct those guys into Mertz. Mertz is lucky that he did not get killed in that play.

What does any of that have to do with the actual statistical numbers and the success rate of the formations from last year that I was talking about?.

It was a very interesting chart and also showed formations that are generally a staple in CBN offense that we could operate out of with probable success if we had a Mobile QB.

Eitherway I was obviously talking about last years #'s. I don't need to re-watch the game, I seen it, and we played like ass on offense overall. A couple bright spots but nothing more. I did like what I seen from our LB's, thought PUP was all over-the-place. Shemar played well too.

"At that point..."--you mean the point AFTER we cut Billy? AFTER the team is shown (not just hypothetically, abstractly, academically told, but actually *SHOWN*) that the real world consists of real, cold, harsh consequences for failing to deliver acceptable results?

You honestly believe that we'll do worse after that, than with Billy's soft spoken, gingerly, agonizingly slow and soft country boy schtick, that fosters a false, completely disingenuous sense of warm, cudly safety?

I sure as hell do not.

Personally, I not only believe we are doing our players a grotesque disservice be enabling Billy's limp wristed, jellyfish fictitious approach to life, I believe the players are begging for a splash of cold water in the face and a swift kick in the pants wake up call to snap them out of Billy's hypnotically induced slumber, in order to prompt them to strive, as a team, to hit far closer to their potential than they would ever approach under Billy.

IOW--you literally have to get Billy out of the way, if you ever want to see what this team can be/do.

TBL--i do not believe we'd see a step down (can they even look worse--softer, less engaged, less organized... than on Saturday?)-- I'm confident that we'd see a marked snapping together of the team, with organic filling of the leadership void, upon administering a cold harsh reality check.

    The sooner the better.

    Jmho/fwiw.

It wasn’t meant to compare Spurrier to Napier ( at least not favorably), it actually highlighted their differences, both had bad games but Spurrier responded by adjusting and getting back on track. Napier hasn’t and doesn’t appear capable of doing so.
I appreciate everyone’s point of view and understand that written media doesn’t always convey one’s thoughts 100% accurately, but believe me I do understand the differences between the greatest Coach the Gators have ever had and Coach Napier.

I wouldn’t even count A&M as a W. Weigman is going to carve our defense like a Thanksgiving turkey

Sorry to take this a bit off-topic, but since you asked, I did watch that replay.
Did anyone notice the lineman (that came in on mertz’s left) nailed him in the head with a forearm - causing the concussion - while our QB was still standing:mad:

Probably just wishful thinking, but if it is true, then Naps is done. It’s over when the big money people start talking.

Thanks for the comment! I looked at the video of this play on Sunday. I also gave it another look just now.
In my first viewings, I did not see the defenders forearm actually striking Mertz head.

Now that I looking at more carefully, I can see the forearm coming to Merz's head in a downward motion. I am not sure how much of a blow was given to the top of Mertz's helment. However, if you look close enough, you can see Mertz's head getting pulled/jerk downward.

It looks like the forearm chop caught Mertz's facemask, thus the downward head jerk movement. Also right at this moment, you can see a mouthpiece flying through the air. It is safe to assume this was Mertz's mouthpiece.

Was this hit enough to cause the concussion? That item is debatable.

However, if you follow the video from that point, you will see the other Miami defender complete the sacking of Mertz. From there you can see the back of Mertz's head hitting the turf. Was this hard landing enough to cause a concussion? Most likely.

The only thing that appears dirty in this play is the forearm hit to Mertz's head/helment. This item alone fits the criteria for a "blow to the head" penalty.

    This is Mertz's mouth piece.

This is Mertz hitting the ground. It appears that his head and left shoulder hit the ground at the same time.

Mertz has a tendency not to wear his guard. You can see him chewing on it like Steph Curry even when he's about to receive the snap.

Count it as a W? Not me. UF has to "show me". Ala someone from mizzou.

My thought is if somehow DJL sparks the boys on both offense and defense. I appreciate all Mertz has done, but I see the only hope for this team is DJL performing a miracle and the defense deciding to play, inspired by DJL.

To continue, if UF rallies up under DJL, maybe, just maybe, with a W over tamu, UF could win 4 maybe 5, but that's asking a heck of alot of DJL.
