You're certainly not necessarily wrong, and there's certainly no easy answer..... Background checks would be more helpful keeping firearms away from criminals. Common sense laws like mandatory training might prevent (young or naive) people from being strawman purchasers. (a la Columbine) Or motivate Dad to lock the gun cabinet. 21-year age requirement for some weapons (AR-15s, etc.) may help. It's a long game.
So mental health, and mental health care, is simply that much worse in the United States than it is in, say, England, Italy, Japan and Korea? It's just about the mental health issues, and has nothing to do with the proliferate guns?

From what i’m seeing reported, there was an armed officer on campus who immediately sought out the shooter who immediately surrendered while the school immediately went into lockdown. Everyone did everything correctly yet there were 4 families who will never be the same and others with grievous injuries - so an armed presence and lockdowns aren’t the solution.
Not asking for censorship, just basic human decency and a smattering of empathy. So have at it dude, even though you know Biden, Trump, etc. - none of them - can solve this problem alone. Get your useless political points in.
