Good business by UCF. I would say the staff could use this to fire up the team, but who are we kidding at this point. Probably more likely to compliment UCFs NIL.
“Jawja has a really good team. Proud of our players today. I told them it’s another life lesson. We’ve got to execute better, right? We’re going to look at the film on Monday so I’ll have a better answer for you then. But hey, I thought we played well relative to earlier in the season. No doubt about it. I trust our process.”
I agree with a lot of what you’ve said on this thread. I do not agree that it’s solely up to one guy though. When the money gets put together, the moves will be made whether Stricklin puts his blessing on it or not. I also believe when the money comes to make it’s move, he’ll be asked to follow Billy out the door, which makes his opinion on the matter even less relevant. What I do see as a big hold up to all of this is that we have no President. I think the only way Scotty survives is if he has a new coach in place before the new President. That would mean he has to move now, and would probably have to hire someone mid season. It would have to be someone that unites the fanbase, which would be nearly impossible at this point anyway. Anything he touches moving forward will be tainted and you’re going to have a large, vocal portion of the fanbase that would still criticize him for hiring Saban, Urbs, Spurrier, Stoops, or any other retiree some of our fanbase seems to pine for.
"I'll just say this one statement: Sometimes, when you do things and people see what type of person that you really are, you turn a lot of people off. Now whatever you want to get out of that, I won't say it again. But it helped us. It helped us more than you'll ever know," Sincerely, Gus Malzahn
Won't hire a new coach mid season, I suspect the writing is on the wall and SS won't fire BN until the 7th loss or a loss to Sanford, or being totally humiliate by UGA. I suspect Sanford is the only team we will be favored in. SS will have an interim coach who is currently on staff. Meanwhile, SS will begin his search if he hasn't already going through back channels. I cannot see any scenario where BN is retained, we are not going to have a winning record. On a side note, online podcasters are already calling out BN for his basement comment. Me thinks, BN doesn't care at this point, he sees the writing on the wall and he can say fu to anyone because UF has made him super rich. He knows he can always go back to coaching sunbelt type schools and still live in a mansion.
I think the thing he said about “Centeal Florida, basement” thing isn’t as bad as it sounds reading it. https://youtube.com/shorts/aOF4D354O7E?si=R4nucVTEN40Olj2F However this concerns me more: (water bottle, read comments for good laugh) https://youtube.com/shorts/75gmQAILr1I?si=duFeoOj7LhZME4S3
That is essentially what I said. I don't think SS is picking the next coach unless he does it like right now though. Meh, the podcaster douches are gonna be podcaster douches. I don't really need them to tell me anything. I think Billy cares. I think he may be broken at this point and that can give the illusion that he doesn't care, but I think he cares. He knows his goose is cooked, and there's not anything he can do to uncook it. I don't think Mullen cared at the end of his tenure. I think he'd lost the fire and was daring the administration to give him his golden parachute.
It’s a tough gig. Not everyone can be successful as the ball coach at Florida. That buyout sure helps though.
I would change "not everyone" to "almost no one". If you look at our history, how many guys have really been successful here? Only two guys put any hardware in the trophy case in 100+ years. It's not an easy thing to do, and there are no sure things.
N No second rate coach would hesitate but paying kiff 150 which is what he would demand could put us on the hook for some Dumbo shenanigans that could leave a really big mark if he decided to roll over for his buyout. That’s too much risk.
He has totally lost the fanbase. It's not that he doesn't know that, but he's not losing sleep wondering if he will be in the bread line. The only question he might have is when will the axe fall.
