My only defense of SS is I think he hired a really good basketball coach. But it should have happened 3 years sooner in my opinion.
The Napier buyout is really, really troubling. Whoever was responsible for signing off on that should be gone if the season plays out like I think it will
Given the sweetheart deal UF's president got Id say the people that signed off on that need to be replaced yesterday. The guy resigns after 18 months and walks away with $1M /year till 2028. Im not a fan of the AD, but he probably has some sweet severance package also.
Yup, it all starts with this. And who knows what the timeline is for that....BN and SS might be with us all season.
SS hires nice people, who do things right but can't coach in the SEC. Our soccer coach is in her third year and we are still tieing Towson and North Florida. She is a quality person but isn't a SEC coach. Of course she was hired to stop a dumpster fire created by SS. Our women's basketball coach is her 4th year I think and we are still in the bottom of the SEC. But again she was hired to put out another dumpster fire created by SS. The only coach that is a winner he hired is basketball. Napier and Cam will do down with the worst records in their sports. He is a mistake.
Based on how we've been firing coaches every 3-4 years, I'd say the next coach will demand an even higher buyout at years 3-4 if he's worth anything.
I really do think the AD will be tied to Napier’s departure this time. Why? This was a bizarre hire. This wasn’t simply underperforming like Muschamp or Mullen. This was a GAMBLE.
I expect Fuchs won't touch the AD or HBC. Which means this will not be dealt with during the interim. And, as someone else said, we want the new AD hiring the new HBC. Consequently, this could easily go into next year. Plus, what complicates this matter involves the wins and losses this year. Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I am not sure about the timing that some are hoping for!
Well he is getting paid that's for sure. Won't go any further since it's not football , tho no president in place could certainly delay the hiring of a new coach (barring a miracle turnaround of course).
That's the name of the game. Sports administrators do this exact thing all the time. It happens multiple times per year. The coaches know if they don't perform they get canned regardless of what anyone in the administration says.
idk how all this stuff works within the administration, but since there's nobody to fire the AD could the AD save himself by firing Billy, hire someone else, and then nobody wants to can him anymore?
I think he’d have to do that immediately and have a new coach in place that united the fanbase BEFORE a new president is hired. I don’t think there is anyone he could hire that would actually accomplish this though.
