Shane Mathews explains, in simple terms, some of the issues. It's long but worth it! https://www.youtube.com/live/wCGm2UIauhs?si=6Dzusyju2DJD40K8
This is an analysis of the OL done by experts. This is very telling, but it only explains a part of what went South. Florida football Week 1 PFF offensive grades vs. Miami Hurricanes
I have no idea why we can't get someone like Shane Matthews to be our OC... maybe our next coach will hire him. He makes the offensive schemes so darn simple... so logical and easy to understand for the receivers and the QB. It's just dumb that we have people at the top that do NOT know anything about football. And I am not talking about our current coach. Lol... I think Matthews would make an excellent team interim OC/QB coach.
It's not about simply having an understanding of the game. There are lots of YouTubers in basements that deeply understand the game. It's about being able to get others to understand and be able to get others to execute on that understanding, together - as one. It also means doing all that after getting to know each individual and properly motivating/incentivizing accordingly.
This is my least favorite part about coach hiring season. Crazy names people bring up. A guy who spent 3 months in federal prison, with zero college coaching experience and someone no other school would look at in a thousand years, isn’t getting any job of consequence.
It still would be fun... just not realistic. But I would like to see Spurrier's offense with Meyer as the head ball coach.
Shane makes it abundantly clear, he likes to play golf too much to coach. But, could he be invited to hold a quarterback clinic or watch film with the quarterbacks and/or receivers?
