I will say that Coach Key makes a really good first impression. His affect during a question-and-answer segment during the walk-thru before that game was that of a coach who knew what to do and how to do it. Add that to the way his smaller, slower, less athletic GT squad made FSU look like a bunch of chumps and I'm really quite impressed. That's obviously not grounds for hiring him in this moment, but it's a damn fine reason for keeping tabs on him. I love Kerwin, but I want someone who has a solid P5 track record, and the innate coaching acumen BN so clearly lacks. I'd also like someone who isn't carrying the kind of baggage Lane Kiffin keeps adding to everywhere he goes.

If he saw a chance at actually winning an SEC championship with UF's resources, while stroking his ego in front of God and everybody, he just might go for it. He likely has the same level of fealty to UM that he once held for UT - which is to say absolutely none. That's just one of the reasons I don't trust him or want him at Florida, ever.

Great suggestion and a name I haven’t heard brought up. Thanks for the breakdown.

Well yes but a little context to what he said. It is Gary Condron, he clearly states a few times he is a high character guy and believes in a good culture. Stated he would have to do some research but if the locker room culture under kiffin is good, his players like playing for him and assistants like working with him he would be open to it.

To be clear I'm not against hiring Kiffin if we happen to find ourselves looking to fill a empty HC position.

Why do we have to hire an offensive coach? That thinking got us hire shark while we could have hired Kirby smart

Lanes son LOVES the gators though because of his mom and Grandfather John Reaves. I'd imagine it would be huge for lane to allow his son to go to UF while he was coach there. His son is a class of 2028 QB.

Attention to detail? Probably when it comes to the terms of his contract/buyout, then yes. Everything else, then NO

Every successful coach we’ve had has been an offensive guy. FSU too, it’s in the DNA of the state and the talent we recruit. Being a defensive minded school in Florida is being a square leg in a round hole. It’s also what will excite the fan base and mean money for NIL. And even defensive minded coaches have had to turn to much more dynamic offenses recently, Saban included. It’s where the game is. Get someone who knows and understands it.

Kirby smart was never coming here lol. He would have waited a couple more years regardless. Mark richt had run his course as HC and Kirby knew that job was coming available sooner or later. Plus we just had fired a former Saban D coordinator, there is no way UF was gonna go right back to the defensive well.

(I do miss those defenses under champ tho)

We've also had offensive minded coaches that set us back a few years because they had terrible defense and didn't recruit. We shouldn't focus on what thw coaches mind set is off/def , yet one that can do it all.

Sounds lune a remake of Weird Science, where qe just make our perfect coach.

And when we find that one who can do it all, we then have to hope he doesn't have NFL aspirations bc those are the coaches who get snagged up by the league. Last thing I want is to feel like we're back bc a new coachbis winning only to find our selves back on the coaching carousel when the cowboys or somebody come calling.

Let’s get back to winning first before we start worrying about losing a coach because of winning. Lol

I don't worry about this because if the NFL wants our guy that means he's had success. Sure it would suck to lose a good coach to the NFL but no coach is forever.

What do you think kiffs contract would look like and how much would that buyout be. He’s prob comfortable where he’s at but he has a price.

Most of tge goats in college stay in college. Some take a shot but most fail. You can’t rig the roster in pros and it’s way harder to win.

Only thing I differ with is there is no such thing as power 5. The pac was never the same and the 12 are pretenders too. So no, he hasn’t done it on the big stage no more than jiffy has. Jiffy is hype until he doesn’t get boatraced by Kirby which happed a few short months ago. Be careful be for you back up the Brinks truck to Kiffy because he might be who you thought he was all along.
