I always feel that we fired Mullen too soon. If we wait one season urban was available and he would want to come back and make it right. I am not sure if his style would win natty again but we would have a winning good team
Kiffin has plenty of money. But ole miss is always going to have a ceiling (last sec title they won?). Small, poor, low population state with a lot of history for many Americans. I have to think kiffin would like to run a program that had a real chance at regularly playing for titles, rather than hoping to catch lightning in a bottle. Plus UF fans would be thrilled with 10 wins (at least for a while). But I don’t know anything and this is just my speculation.
Well , Dion is even lower but Urbs is maybe a safe bet that won’t make half the fanbase puke. I’d get over it though if kiff beat furby next year. Picking future national champions is surely a tough prospect though. Spurrier only got one.
You need a coach who can build and leave a stable foundation. Urban left his last three jobs in very messy ways, and someone else had to clean it up. That’s the last thing we need right now.
Ole Miss will do what they can to keep Kiffin. I’m not sure we could get him here but he is the only coach I would really want at this point. I do think Florida may have an allure to Kiffin: that’s only a hunch. Not likely, but there is also the possibility, remote as it may be, Napier gets it turned around and salvages the season. But even if he does, getting the taste of this loss to Miami isn’t going to be easy to get rid of.
Anybody else really shocked that Kiffin didn’t go to Bama when Saban retired? I think if Saban had retired one year earlier he’d be their HC right now but the year DeBoer had in 2023 (his SECOND at Washington BTW) was just too much to be ignored.
