It’s just such a different game now and more parity in college football than ever before and the hottest teams get all the elite players which puts everyone else at a bit of a disadvantage in competition…… I guess if I was barrier, I would say to I really want come back and jeopardize my legendary reputation and legacy during these times and during a complete rebuild?! I don’t think so….maybe he could be a “consultant” on how to get it back on track

For those who want to fire Napier now, who are we going to find at this part of the season? And, how is he going to find assistant coaches now?

Urban is available and if he still wants it, can step in as interim HC until the end of season. Let Urban be the HC but also hire a coach-in-waiting to take over the top job when Urban is ready to move on.

I’ll keep it a bean…i talked with my “lil bruh” this morning and he’s a big Gator fan as well and we both said it (cause we didn’t talk yesterday) but we both knew it was over after Miami’s first drive. We just felt “it”

The first from scrimmage for Miami was a damn indication too….what should of been a simple stop for a short gain on a run plan turned into a 5 yard gain because their OL pushed the pile forward. Immediately I was like “yeeeeeep, time to open up this gallon growler of beer and get to work!!!!”

man you treat this job like it’s UF no matter how much we’ve fallen off. GO GET THEE GUY and stuff with this now P5 hires. Never thought Riley would leave OU for USC or Kelly would leave ND for LSU but it happened.

There should never be a “who can we get”….needs and should be “who do we want to go get”

You seem to be arguing against a point that wasn't made. The post was about timing, not who we ultimately hire.

If so, Stricklin should fire himself at the same time. Seriously.

Do you know this for a fact? If so, that is very telling. If not, it's just a rumor.

make it now!! It didn’t take FSU but a season and a half to realize Taggart wasn’t it and they did the job. Screw timing

Don’t listen to him. His entire MO is to be the opposite of the masses. He was anti BN in the beginning and now his defending him. It’s weird. I don’t think he’s actually a Gator fan.

Eh, think some along with myself have believe florida isn't the attractive place it once was.not that it isn't still a potential top job but it isn't necessarily a destination compared to someone who has a stable situation in a potentially rising program with tons of resources but not much history like ole miss, Oregon, mizzou etc.

There was a time leaving those programs for Florida would be automatic. That just isn't the case anymore.

i think he was referring to in season coach- not next season. I totally agree with your take for next season.

I think the poster was asking if Napier was fired today what do we do for the rest of the year? My take - someone on staff becomes interim head coach, Calloway is likely promoted to full time play caller /OC, and one of RR or AA becomes sole DC. Who would be the interim, I don’t know. But you aren’t really bringing in new people at this point.

say that RR gets the interim gig due to his age- hell, let me change that. Since the season is likely shot see if Mike P, a gator, would take the interim gig. He then cans say AA and Rob Sale, making RR sole DC and Calloway sole OC. We have like 100 analysts….two will get promoted to replace the 2 canned. Say Houston gets moved on field as a special teams coach. Then some other staffer is promoted to coach whatever AA was coaching position wise. Don’t need to replace Sale since we have Decoster already. Or, maybe Mike P fires half the staff and replaces with other analysts who have prior coaching experience. We always have some on staff.

anyway, that is my answer to the poster of what we do now if Napier is fired in season.
Maybe team still collapses. Or maybe changes motivate and things improve and we pull some upsets. In the longest shot, the team responds to new leadership and rally’s around my Mike P. Fantasy and he becomes a. Candidate for full time head coach closing out an 8-4 season. lol

I really think he ain’t going nowhere this year and maybe next as well. They are gonna prove themselves one way or another(told y’all he just needed time) and drag us kicking and screaming. He’s got heat, said he can take it; he better start cooking. Maybe a game in the future, we’ll all be screaming happy with results or the next admin hopefully does this hiring thing right for once. Either way painful games are in store. I ain’t happy about it, but Im still a Gator and I’m still rooting for success. It is what it is.

Before yesterday I would tell people Napier ain't getting fired this year short of some disaster, that UF didn't want to go through another quick fire and hefty buyout of a head football coach. And with this year's schedule, 5-7 likely wouldn't count as a disaster. And all of that was reasonable to me...

Yesterday was an abject disaster. If that's a sign of things to come, the season will be a disaster. BN and SS won't survive a disaster this fall, boosters have turned against them.
