True the facilities are fine so I don't differ there, the hole we're in is BN would be the 4th HC to get fired in a relative short time. If that isn't bad enough (bad judgement) think how much money it has cost the university to pay these failed coaches. At some point somebody gets tired of paying for foolish mistakes. Now, you have a huge buyout with BN, and his staff, and his army of do nothings. Then you will have to have a boat load of money to get a great coach who actually has a proven resume and that will not need to learn on the job. Then you have to find someone willing to take a chance knowing what a dumpster fire this team is. Being that BN is a "players coach" he leaves and you can bet many will head to the portal. Actually, even if he stays I suspect a good number will hit the portal. Bottom line it's a mess and one that our current AD has created.
We need a legend back if we are going to become relevant again. Someone who understands what it takes to get to the top of the mountain. He can go down as a top 5 Gator of all time if he brings up back to prominence. LISTEN TO THIS. HE NEEDS TO BE OUR GUY
We are the only program Ive seen in the last decade with a player running off the field with a shit stain on his pants...other than that Im at a loss.
Would take him back in a heartbeat. Yes I know what he did. No, I don’t care. Bring me Urban or Kiffin.
I get it and sadly you're not wrong but vandy was never relevant. Tennessee had embarassing mistake after mistake and always throws out ridiculous names that aren't on the table for a new coach. Sounds familiar. Vamdy at least knows they are vandy.
The guy is a lifer and he has unfinished business at UF. Saban is gone and the state is a gold mine for him. Every recruit in the country would want a spot on our roster. It won't take long to right the ship...screw the process...
Don’t be so sure. Did you watch what he had to say after our loss? Link in my original post. Sounds like someone laying some breadcrumbs out there that he can do better and knows what to do to fix the problem.
I feel like this is being thrown around a lot without merit. Do we know for a fact the admin are okay with the current state of the program? The buyout is massive, but his staying here is an even more massive hit.
Speaking for myself, an admin commited is bringing in a Deboer type or a lincoln Riley, not a Napier. To the question "who is that guy?" That's not my job, it is their job.
Posted this in another thread.... His 'my way or get out' style worked when players had no freedom of movement, now it will have everyone in the portal, he tried his Mr Tough Guy stuff in the NFL and got laughed out of the league, he's been out of college ball for 6 years now which is an eternity, the time for coaches like him is over.
Interviewer: "Why are so many of you leaving Florida?" Blue Chipper: "Because we want to win championships." NFL draftees from Florida and Ohio State: 2007: 9 2008: 3 2009: 3 2010: 9 2011: 4 2012: 4 2012: 4 (OSU) 2013: 8 2013: 3 (OSU) 2014: 6 (OSU) 2015: 5 (OSU) 2016: 12 (OSU) 2017: 7 (OSU) 2018: 7 (OSU) 2019: 9 (OSU) 2020: 10 (OSU) 2021: 10 (OSU) Recruits wait in line to join Urban Meyer, and already understand his draconian leadership style. It's similar to soldiers and sailors joining the Special Operations forces (SF, Ranger, SEALs, Force Recon). They KNOW it will be brutal. You think Saban was malleable? Lots of folks think Saban left because of The Portal and NIL, but forget that Saban is also 72 years old. He's the GOAT, and has nothing more to prove. Like Bob Stoops, both Saban and Meyer built a foundation for Alabama and OSU so firm that virtually anyone can continue the dominance, though admittedly, for those Blueblood powers, it wasn't all that hard.
