Someone mentioned him already; but it deserves its own thread. Brent Key should be high on the list of potential head coaches for the Gators, maybe at the top of the list. I’m a season ticket holder who drives from Atlanta to the Swamp for the games; so I’ve had a close up view of Key’s work, coaching style, and most importantly, his results. Key’s Tech players play disciplined, aggressive football; and they play it with consistent intensity. Since taking over Ga Tech’s program, he has taken this team of supposedly lesser talent to unreal, very impressive, levels of performance.

I am watching a current major college head coach. I am not going to name him. Don't feel putting up with the crap some people would give me. I want to see a little more from him. So far I am impressed with what I see.

Urban, Kiffin, Fisch, Leipold, and Eli D are all ahead of him.

Hes probably tied with Chadwell in my book. It’s the cheap hire but still an upgrade

Well who has demonstrated the ability to win at the P4 level, and could look at UF as a better opportunity?

Fisch just because of his ties to UF, Washington is also probably a little more limited.

PJ Fleck 50-35 at Minnesota, UF would be huge upgrade, lacks ties to SE.

Dave Doeren 82-52 at NC st. Always seems to have competative team that often punches above its weight, again recruiting is a concern.

Jeff Brohm 11-4 @ Louisville and 36-34 at Purdue (as an alumni I assure you that is an achievement). I think fans would like his offense.

Kyle Whittingham 163-79 @ Utah. Could he take that last step with UF resources?

Chris Klieman 40-24 @ Kanas St. Another coach who seems to do more with less, a K st specialty it seems.

    Mike Gundy 167-79 @ OK st. He's a man, he's 57.

He is a Georgia tech alum. Tech NIL is paying good money for highly rated OL. so they have decent NIL. I doubt he jumps to Florida or similar job before spending several years trying to bring back his beloved yellow jackets program. There is enough tv money at every school to pay huge salaries. Leaving for a “bigger” program - power 5 to power 5 schools - isn’t the draw or automatic decision it once was.

Anyone with a little more experience at the P4 level. Not saying what he’s accomplished thus far isn’t good, just think UF really needs to swing big this next go round.

Hey if they swing and miss and they get to him, his still on the list.

Fleck's seat is warm at Minnesota. Fans are not happy after Game 1.

Man nothing on that list is exciting. You'd think Gundy would at least have a high floor. I don't watch Kansas but some seem to think their coach is good.

I looked at Liepold, hes still below .500 (2-10 first year in Lawrence), but definitely trending up. Similar thing could be said of Locksley at Maryland.

As to the lack of excitement, I think UF and it's fans might need a reset. We need a coach who has proven to win games and punch above their weight. The harsh reality is that is where UF is right now, that is the right piece to the puzzle IMO.

We need a Brohm that can come in and go 10-4 like he did at UL with a talent level that I think most would agree is less than Clemson, Miami, UNC, and maybe some others.

We are Louisville in the SEC, at best to be honest.

Our best years have been with coaches that everyone hates.

    Urban and Spurrier types.

Lane Kiffen is the epitome of that.
