Last week on SECN they were showing some of last year's games.

One was the 34-24 Texas win over Bama - I think it was the 3rd game of the season.

One of the comments stood out to me.

(paraphrasing) "Sark understands he's not going to get any yards by sending someone up the middle against this Bama front 4. So he's going over them by utilizing the pass instead."

A simple concept......but one that seems to escape certain coaches, it seems.

Texas beat Colorado State yesterday 52-0. Bama beat Western Kentucky 63-0.

Coach Corso predicts Texas will win the National Championship this year.

You can draw your own conclusions why some coaches get it and some don't......for me it always comes down to the most basic principles of the game.

This current team is now number one in two categories. They are number one in strength of schedule and were just rated number one in the College Football Misery Index.

    Kiffin aint coming.

Yes we are the more storied program. Yes we should offer the greater opportunity/ceiling for players and their coaches. And in the previous era that would still be true.

    But not now.

Not with the portal, and NIL (and UF's horrible, no-good approach to both.)

It is a new era of college football. Practically a Year Zero.

In this new era, combined with where we actually stand at this moment, Ole Miss to UF is a lateral move.

A whole lotta pain for limited chance at gain?

The only way Kiffin comes here is for the stratospheric buyout as his golden parachute into a spectacularly wealthy retirement.

Clemson got throttled but Dabo was in players and coaches faces. All I saw CBN do was chew his gum, maybe a fist pump after the TD. I’m not saying go full Muschamp but throw a visor or kick a whiteboard. He looked like he the lowest heart rate in The Swamp.

Which is also a good point because if we pay Kiffin too much, we may have a Mullen problem where we’ve removed the incentive to work.

It makes more sense to get fired than to actually bust your ass and try and win.

Napier obviously has a fire for coaching. At least his style of coaching.

He clearly has no fire for winning.

He is a manager, not a leader, and not a competitor.

You cannot put it all on the coaching. The college football industry is very competitive. Miami put money into getting the top players who do not require as much coaching. They know what is expected of them and they execute.

We have players that need to be coached, and perhaps the inexperience of the staff has been a detriment. I believe that as the level of talent increases it will be to coach a winning program. I don't think that is debatable.

IMHO....what we need more than anything right now is an Offensive Coordinator to take over the offense.

My argument is this......if any of the following: Todd Monken, Steve Sarkisian, or Steve Spurrier were running the offense....would we be winning more games than we are now?

If the answer is yes......we can keep Billy.....and get the right person in to help us score points...so we're not as dependent on the defense to "save the day"....

The crowd was surprisingly lively considering how much we were down so early. But alas, even optimists see the light…it cleared by the middle of tbe fourth.

Kiffin actually has a better resume than Sark, imo.

Give me a few minutes. I’m trying to figure out a way to blame this on Mullen again.

Threw it into coverage when another receiver was open several times. Just didn’t seem to be seeing the field very well. The deep ball when he had one on one coverage was thrown into the coverage instead of away from the coverage which would have given the receiver a better chance.
I thought DJ made better decisions and got the ball out faster. I would start him against Stanford and if he plays well, the job should be his.

Not necessarily true. If we maintain the status quo next year, I can see the portal exodus of our best players happening because player development and scheme seems to be an issue with this coaching staff. The players that flash are the ones with skills that other teams will be looking to poach from us, and who could be convinced that other staffs will do a better job developing them.

The issue may be to hire a great coach will take time because the great coach will have his team playing in the postseason, and getting that person hired and announced before early signing season will be difficult. But while it may be painful, that bandaid will have to get ripped off at some point in time. We can’t continue on the path Napier is currently leading us on.

Nah. They just got to play against the UF defense. How many teams have we made look amazing over the past 4-5 years?
