Yeah, that always baffled me. Especially after the first season when it was apparent that the mid major system wasn’t going to work in the sec

This is actually a good option if Ole Stevie is up to it. But maybe even Urban Meyer would be someone that could come in and crack that whip on that subpar assistant coaching staff.

Urban would be great as an interim.

UF needs to play this correctly and have the new HBC and his contract lined up before firing Napier.

Steve is 79 years old and I'm sure could still coach rings around Napier, but I have to wonder if even he has the energy to be able to motivate this group to play up to the level of their ability. Remember he isn't a D guy (our worst unit) and he would need to de-install the Napier stall ball O and implement his in the middle of the season.....an extremely tall order.

I'm sure Jimmy Sexton is salivating at the thought of bending Scott Stricklin over the negotiating table again.

SS has no business being involved in any future football decisions.

No because Stricklin will not be the one negotiating.

Make sure Stricklin is fired first.

How do you create a pass rush? How do you play football when both tackles or whatever you call their position near leave our side of the ball. They both got doubled and stood up nearly every play creating a wall at the line. At the end of every play they looked like they had my trolling motor spot lock controlling them.

I think the suggestion was he become AD. And is in charge of the next coaching hire. I agree the slog of daily coaching is behind him. He retired from that in S.C. but cushy office job. Maybe we have a special appointment of Football Czar. And let him do his thing getting the program righted. At 79, he is definitely not shy on strong opinion.

Let Spurrier enjoy his retirement. He deserves it.

His mind is still as sharp as a tack, but physically, he's hurting. I don't think he has any interest in an AD position...he is a Ball Coach.

I know this has been brought up but why not OC? I remember a clip from mullens years where they were in an off in ice coaches meeting and spurrier just stopped in and drew up a play on the board on the spot and then walked on. Dudes still got it.

Agreed, but you know that competitor in him plus his love for UF has got to be killing him to watch this free fall. I’d say offer him what ever position he wants in whatever capacity he wants, and let the others confirm. Maybe his magic was for the 90s and 2000s, but I don’t see a lot of better options out there.

What we expect from a HC and AD is way more than we should ask of Coach Spurrier.

I vote chat GPT as interim head coach/OC. Let's see what it can do.

The only realistic interim coach would be Urban Meyer, but I would rather we hire Kiffin for our next head football coach at season's end.
