49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall shot in San Francisco robbery attempt (nypost.com) The 23-year-old rookie was walking alone in San Francisco’s Union Square around 3:37 p.m. when a 17-year-old armed with a gun tried to rob him on Geary Street near Grant Street, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott told reporters at a press conference. During the robbery, reportedly for the NFLer’s luxury watch, there was a struggle over the weapon which fired multiple times leaving Pearsall shot in the chest, police said. Pearsall is in “serious but stable condition” the 49ers organization said in a statement. He's lucky to be alive. It's a shame how that city has been turned into a cesspool
America is a country that embraces and encourages gun violence, so what do you expect? Speedy recovery to Ricky.
It’s a terrible thing and best of luck to him on his recovery. Relieved to read that he is stable. btw, Jacksonville’s homicide rate is significantly higher the San Fran’s
And with all the laws and restrictions on guns and ammo in California it did not prevent this shooting.
One day you should do some research about variance among state gun laws. Guns being easily transportable, or transferable among people.....it means that one area's strict gun laws could be rendered moot by lax laws in other places. I know that's a super crazy and very sophisticated concept that is very difficult to master, but this debate has been ongoing for about 50 years, so it's something to consider.
Those who’ve been attempting to make this political because of the location, are also the same people looking to further increase the gap between the haves and have nots. How crime of this nature is tied to it, is lost on them. A society that allows so many on the margins, is a society where it’s not safe to walk around with a luxury watch in high density areas.
Anyone else having trouble pulling up the thread from when Texans WR Tank Dell was shot in Florida earlier this year? Can't find it for some reason.
Here's an article on the shooting. Texans WR Dell has minor wound from shooting And the shooting of Tank Dell happened in the state in which Ron DeSantis is the governor and Trump is it's most famous resident. The dirty little not so secret is that an occasional shooting or even a homicide or mass murder is a price worth paying for a very liberal (ironically conservative politically) reading of the Second Amendment.
California ranks 44th out of the 50 states in gun violence per 100,000 residents, lower than every red state. On the other hand nine of the top ten states are red states. U.S. gun violence rate by state 2024 | Statista
Or both, really. I support enforcement of laws. Now your turn: you support reasonable gun laws? Like, say, not allowing 18 year-olds, who cannot buy a beer, to buy an AR-15? Oh, also- you're a law and order guy? You're not voting for a convicted felon or the party who lies for him, are you?
