Because that’s what absolutely has to happen before we even THINK about a new HBC. Do you REALLY TRUST Stricklin to make another coaching hire? SS needs to go. Like yesterday!
Napier can’t be fired today. That just isn’t the way things are done. After he inevitably clinches a losing season, probably fair game. Now the AD … he seems fair game. Immediately. He put his stamp of confidence on Napier during the offeason. Time for accountability. Stricklin is lucky I don’t require him to commit ritual suicide by disembowelment on the 50-yard line.
Fuchs has to cop a feel in the shower every morning to see if he still has a set. He'll only do what he's told to do.
This is all messy. SS has still been singing BN's praises and was so all in - in hiring BN that to fire him makes himself look bad especially with the lucrative deal given to BN. Then there's the buyout. But to not do anything when another losing season exists, disgruntled fans, empty seats I don't think he has any other choice than to fire BN. Retaining BN after 3 losings seasons as hc would imo only deepen the hole we're in. Recruiting will suffer. Players will leave. Fans won't show. And the schedule doesn't get much easier. To not fire BN should be cause enough to fire SS. Actually SS needs removed for does anyone really have confidence he is capable of hiring another hc? I certainly don't. Good OP question. Who exactly is over the AD? Is it the college President? Does UF have a President? Do Bull Gators have any influence?
The political pressure comes from everywhere, boosters, alumni, Board of Trustees. Ultimately the President would feel all of this and make the call or take action. It’s a little tricky right now with our President situation.
Mori has a say. I imagine he can drum substantial support in any direction. He is getting lit up tonight for certain. So is everyone who has any finger in anything related to this chit show.
Yeah Stricklin has to go. IMO when he backed himself into a corner with no room to maneuver politically by giving a multi-year vote of support to Napier, his ship and wagon were at that point hitched to Napier. He was gonna sink or swim with him. Because as said, he backed himself into a corner. By saying "I expect Napier to coach here for several more years", he effectively made it so that he CAN'T fire him without a massively-embarrassing-to-the-university about face that will be scrutinized by future coaches for years to come and become a sticking point of "what guarantees can you offer me that you wont promise me multi-year support just to fire me tomorrow?". So now, the only option the university has left is to fire Stricklin to give itself ability to diplomatically maneuver again, because firing him lets the university disavow his pledge of support. A new AD can simply say "I never promised him anything. I never hired him, I have no obligation to him or promises made under the previous AD"
BUMP!! Updated the thread title. Please please please don’t let Stricklin make another hire!! PLEASE!
Not to mention that not one of his hires has won a championship of any kind. That's frankly unacceptable at a program like UF.
