Kiffin has proven to be a good college football coach. He was good at Tennessee, and he's a good coach now at ole Miss. We know the product he will bring. We should make it happen.
Duh. He was trash with the Jags and it's a new era with portal and NIL. He's also like 60 or something. He might still be good, but he might not. Either way it's highly unlikely he'd come back so it doesn't really matter.
We got 1 good quality coach out of 6 after the HBC left. (about 17% success) All were mostly unproven D-1 coaches who coached at lesser schools. If we can't get an elite coach, I'd settle for an alumnus. At least they know firsthand the importance of rivalry games and bleed orange and blue. (Dickey, the HBC - 50% success.)
Does he though? I don't think that's true, at least on paper. It just seems that way because they're actually being coached.
The earliest they will probably be able to have a new president in place is a year from now. You wanna wait that long?
Agree 100%. All Lane does is win as a 94-49 record is very impressive when you consider a couple of places he’s been.
Well for those that can't get excited about that possibility, he's won at every level he's coached at and most importantly: can't be worse that what we currently have.
Not firing Napier now and not getting a proven coach in here pronto is going to set the program back further and further, which will cost UF way more than $25 million in the long run. This is what the administration has to look at. Yes, $25 million is a lot and $12 to $13 million per (or more) is a lot to give to Lane Kiffin. But how many millions does Florida lose by neglecting the football program? Didn't we just spend $400+ million on facility upgrades? Lane Kiffin is a value proposition. UF can either lose more and more on their investment or profit big with a coach like Kiffin. I don't think there is any more sure a hire than Lane at this stage. What's the administration's plan from here? Unless we are going to give up on Florida football, which seems far-fetched for any administration after the recent facility upgrade expenditures, you have to get Napier out this season. He is killing the gratuitous investment already made. You would also be kissing millions upon millions goodbye from boosters and sponsors. Napier's buyout is a drop in the bucket compared to what it would cost UF to keep him around. The lesson the administration needs to learn is that yes, UF have wasted a lot of money on less than mediocre coaching. Time to pony up for the big dog and get Lane Kiffin in here. Lane would have us as a fixture in the Top 10 and making way more money than we would lose keeping Napier here.
Get the very best lawyers and the most sinister agents, mudslingers, muckrakers, and character assassins to find a way out of that buyout. Nobody needs to feel as safe as Napier did this offseason.
Apparently, Napier had a damn good agent. In no way, shape or fashion did Napier's resume command a $25 million buyout.
