What is Mertz’ Status? [Update: Concussion -- In Protocol]

I hope he gets well soon. But I would play D.J. Lagway all game long this next week just to make sure he's okay.

I don’t get the Mertz hate either… I think some people see what they want to, not the game.

 

I don't hate Mertz... love the kid. He just had an off day... just like the whole offense did.

 

Not surprising. This O doesn't exactly lend itself to getting WR's running wide open. It's the anti SOS O.

 

Let's be clear. The defense was awful. The offense was meh. This outcome was about probs beyond the offense.

 

He missed one read that I saw.

 

The defense was down right lost all game long, but I did see several times, when Mertz did have time, that he was NOT seeing the open receivers. Look man he was not alone, the whole team had a bad day, it happens. It's just too bad they had a bad day on the first home game.

I'm not the one saying we need to place him, nothing like that. I think Mertz is great when he's on, and more times than not he is on. He will regroup and be fine.

 

I’m not saying Graham is going to be a first round pick or win the heisman, but QB play is not what caused this dumpster fire of a game.

I disagree. Mertz deserves to start. And DJ is still too raw at the moment. The game was in the bag when DJ came in. He’s not going to save our season. Don’t kill his confidence throwing him to the wolves.
