Have to believe they could have done just as well without any actual play calling, just backyard football
I agree. And don't expect a return to the championship days. Bowl games are going to be the ceiling now.
The season is young. If we allow the passage of time to pass, we can search the Cloud way up there to find better plays that work better and maybe we will play better. After all, while we didn’t quite win the game, we are still winners (in the game of life). Several players played uncontrollably today. We need safer players that play more safely.
A $52,000,000 contract. It will eventually ring true, no better job in America than a failed SEC coach...
Besides the point, young whippersnapper. Foley loaded our trophy shelf with all kinds of hardware, included the 3 football nattys occurring on his watch, certain contingent around these parts bitched up bloody storm about his football coaches. Strikin has delivered squat, and presided over our once proud football program devolving to @$$^& cupcake status.
Sadly the lack of any hint of improved performance with improved players doesn’t bode well for the length of time you gave. If we suddenly have a drastic change in projection, perhaps the end of the season, but the process is not showing tangible results. SS and BN don’t have this luxury of time. If there was anything someone could point to as an improvement over either of the last 2 years play and results on the field it might make what we witnessed today more palpable, but there’s nothing! The powers that be might be more patient with results. I just don’t see how the team we saw today pulls that rabbit out of the hat.
Maybe I won't be accused of being negative anymore for calling things like I see them. BN is not the guy, been obvious for quite some time for some of us. Every time I ever asked what he brings to the table the answer has always been abstract, hes a CEO, hes a good guy, blah blah blah. His recruiting is just OK. His playcalling and scheme are pedestrian. His staff moves have been objectively bad. No discipline. He has no fire and his team acts just like him. After year 1 I asked if he can't out recruit the SEC (he can't) what does he bring that gives UF an advantage? Not a damn thing.
Not to take any well deserved heat off of Napier but that reality was a choice made by the Administration after/due to the end of the Urban years.
BN was telling us coming out of camp how pleased and excited he is with this team. I need a reporter to ask him what he's using as a measuring stick to make such a comment.
If the “improved” roster produced results that are easily seen by the casual fan, he may have been correct to think that. Breaking long held records in a negative way are hard to watch when there is little to feel positive about the team as a whole. Special teams played well, but can’t carry the team!
