No reason to come back the game was out of hand. Plus he was taken to the locker room after his injury.
Like @rmonteag said . . . looked like the hit to his head that would result in a concussion. No announcement yet but he was hurt and we all know that. The docs are rightly very careful with a head injury.
The helmet to helmet with toss down being a no call was one among a string of questionable stuff for the refs. The worst that affected the game the most for us was allowing holding of Wilson, sometimes like pulling a sled from behind. That totally changed our offensive plan.
I’ve heard concussion and I’ve heard shoulder. Regardless, he should be out next week vs our only cup cake. This can allow Lagway to get lots of experience and vs an over matched opponent. in week 3….the fans - well, this fan, will still want Lagway to start regardless of Mertz’s health. Mertz was bad today. After the opening day debacle, fans need some hope and Lagway provides hope for the future. if Napier goes back to Mertz it will be just another decision - like running for it on 3rd and 8- that shows he is too stubborn to try something new.
Just reported by Steve Russell that Graham Mertz has a concussion and is in the protocol. Coach Napier will address it further in his Monday press conference.
