Donald Trump said Thursday he will implement a policy as president that would pay for in vitro fertilization treatments, without specifying how the treatments would be paid for.

I’m announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for, or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for, all costs associated with IVF treatment,” the former president said at a campaign event in Potterville, Michigan.

Because we want more babies, to put it very nicely. And for this same reason, we will also allow new parents to deduct major newborn expenses from their taxes, so that parents that have a beautiful baby will be able, so we’re pro family,” Trump continued.

I often wonder if he talks to advisors before saying things like this.

Sounds like big gov/socialism/communism to me. I'm sure his supporters will cheer wildly.

I'm calling a back track before everyone else. Paying for IVF will cost way more than Harris wanting to give $25k to new home buyers

More likely a swing and a miss. He polls poorly with educated women and they won't believe a word of this.

It's not that the party of small government opposes socialism; they just prefer to enforce their own version of it.

You have this interesting understanding of a government working for the people... versus a government working AGAINST THE PEOPLE.

This is a brilliant proposal. Birth rate has become a large issue. It appeals to his populist base, because instead of importing our population we subsidize it. Far cheaper than allowing the border to be overrun.

While Trump is expanding his base with proposals like these, Kamala is alienating her’s by trying to be like him.

Birth rate is an issue but this will not help and it's not a good move politically, either. The potential gains are minimal because the target demographic for this isn't going to go for Trump no matter what he does. On the flip side, he risks alienating social conservatives and, possibly, the newly won RFK supporters.

The solution to the birth rate problem is cultural not medical.

What about all the folks that sacrificed and saved and worked two jobs to pay for their IVFs? What about all us folks that sacrificed and saved and slept at our jobs to pay all the taxes on our major newborn expenses? With no barrier to entry, what are we going to do with exponentially more freezers full of extra babies (embryos are people, too!)?

Not this one. I wasn't born yesterday. But I'll tell you this, the righteous religious women are going to be turned off. That is if their husband tells them to be.

The one thing we know about Trump is he's extremely disciplined when given a task, and cant be distracted by anything or be pushed in another direction by the last person he talked to. Money in the bank if he gets elected!

It'll likely be run into an insurance coverage requirement. It won't be free, but it will be better than having to pay out of pocket. It's called capitalism.

Even though dems at the DNC said Trump was opposed to IVF, that has never been true. Just another lie coming out of the DNC.

Birth rate is an issue because educated people don't want to bring children into a world where Trump can be president.

Interesting reaction from the people that were against home buying assistance because...socialism and big government and taxes!
