Misinformation is not 'ideas'. Truth is not always popular.

We are discussing your responsibility in identifying and not relaying falsehoods. I didn't bring up the government.

    You are almost there...;)

Get your facts straight for a change. The applications were for 501(c)(4) status. To qualify for that status, the entity needs to be a non-profit organization operating exclusively for the promotion of social welfare. None of the political organizations, whether, left, right or in the middle were entitled to that status, yet alone 501(c)(3) status.

Rick you might be the most “undude” personality I’ve ever encountered. So I love you quoting that film.

    Why change what's working? ;)

Rephrase: these were applications for non-profit tax status and the groups with conservative sounding names were slow played. Happy now?
I'll make sure to take off my shoes and not disturb the plastic covering on the furniture when I walk in your family room.

You’re coming across as too ignorant to even understand what I am talking about, and you are being a total jerk. These political organizations are not operated exclusively for social welfare purposes, so they are not entitled to 501(c)(4) status. They actually are entitled to Section 527 status, which applies to political organizations. So, why don’t they just do that? The answer is that they would then have to disclose the names of their contributors. They can hide the names of their contributors under 501(c)(4), but they don’t qualify for that status. If I recall correctly, an understaffed IRS office in Covington, KY tried to root out the applicants that didn’t qualify for 501(c)(4) status by looking at applicants that had political names. Unfortunately, the pressure resulting from having to deal with a bunch of Congressional pricks resulted in the IRS granting 501(c)(4) status to some organizations that didn’t deserve it. Going back to your plastic covering remark, your point appears to be that if you have at least half a brain and are a knowledgeable person, then you must also have plastic coverings on your furniture. Needless to say, you do not have plastic coverings on your furniture.

    1. Yes I’ve been a wise ass and accept the jerk admonition Fair point.
    2. I do think you’re getting lost in the weeds and missing the big picture: the IRS went after conservative sounding groups significantly with significantly more scrutiny than Left sounding groups. When called on it a couple lower level people were blamed and Lois Lerner exited stage left from her job.

My point was that folks argued the Left leaning groups were scrutinized too - leaving out it was a ratio of like 20:1. True statement that gave the wrong impression.

    Is it possible that

    a) there were more conservative entities with obvious sounding political sounding names than progressive?
    b) the conservative entities were less cooperative?

Here is the IG report on the scandal, sans politician spin, to help you:

I'm sure the Biden administration would love to step in and right this wrong but that would be infringing on Amazon's free speech, right?
