Can't count how many times I have responded to people freaking out from taking Delta 8 products. Young adults. Middle aged people on vacation. Older people trying it. I don't know if they suffered any real physiological harm but in almost every case they feel so bad they request transport by ambulance to an ER. I'm pro legalization of Marijuana but I wouldn't try any of these commercial products out there.

I recall people going to prison for making and selling "spice." I don't know much about the Delta products, although I have tried them. Little surprised someone hasn't gone after them yet since the "buzz" is pretty similar to the real thing.

I don't recall spice although it was probably involved during our rash of bad reactions years ago when Salvia, bath salts and spice were making the rounds. The major shifts I've experienced in 15 years was the move from oxy to injectable heroin. Synthetics including the above mentioned along with flakka, the move from heroin to fentanyl and now Delta 8 and other gummies. The Delta 8 isn't as severe as any of the others by a long shot but I imagine it may have secondary long term psychological effects given how frequent and how messed up these people get. Reminds me of seeing bad acid trips I guess.

I've always figured if it's good(bad) for mice it must be more good(bad) for us. I am sure I can smoke a mouse under the table.

The "spice" started with an initial version that was pretty close to the real thing and didn't seem problematic, but I guess they kept changing the formula/compound to try to stay legally compliant. As time passed, even when it was still openly sold in gas stations, its effects seemed to get more intense and feel less natural. I remember having to talk a couple people down from it. The arrests and indictments followed. Looks like Salvia is illegal here now too. Not sure how the Delta products have seemed to avoid the same sort of scrutiny/crackdowns.

    It’s false equivalence.

The current THC content is upwards of 80%, far higher than the 3% that was around when we were kids. Furthermore the CBD portion has been breed out or removed which incidentally appears to have some protection against Psychosis.

You couldn’t go buy it online in a vape(odorless) and suck on it 50x a day.

Now you just “click” yes I’m 21 and it’s your for the purchase.

You can go online and click yes that you are 21 and here it comes. There is little if any regulation.

FDA and American Psychiatric Association have warnings about all the delta 8/9 THC-M, etc.

It is not 80% in grass. In some concentrates/dab pens yes. Typical vapes are less potent than smoking.

First hand experience, almost no regulation.

It has zero medicinal use based on any studies.

Incidence of ER visits for CIP rises dramatically in states that legalize it.

2016 farm bill made products derived from hemp legal to sell. It’s garbage.

Yep 80% in vapes, dabs concentrates.

Flower can be upwards of 30%.

Gummies are whatever the guy cooking it makes them.

According to this weed caused psychosis is not very common. Having said that I know at least 1/2 a dozen folks who don't partake b/c it makes them too anxious, including my 20 yo daughter.

Cannabis, a widely used psychoactive substance, can trigger acute cannabis-associated psychotic symptoms (CAPS) in people who use cannabis (PWUC). To assess rates and correlates of CAPS requiring emergency medical treatment, we analyzed data from an international sample of PWUC (n = 233,475). We found that 0.47% (95%CI 0.42; 0.52) PWUC reported lifetime occurrence of CAPS, defined as the occurrence of hallucinations and/or paranoia requiring emergency medical treatment following the use of cannabis.

Rates and correlates of cannabis-associated psychotic symptoms in over 230,000 people who use cannabis | Translational Psychiatry

Interestingly, weed can also relieve anxiety & depression in some people. I straddle both. Pure indica squeezes anxiety out of me; pure sativa make me anxious.

High potency marijuana associated with psychosis, curbs anxiety, depression: researchers

Is high potency marijuana bad for individuals with preexisting mental health conditions?

According to university researchers, the answer is yes, depending on the condition.

But the researchers found it also offers some benefits, such as reducing anxiety and depression.

I have seen a number of people's lives destroyed by alcohol. Just had to pronounce a body sitting for approximately 3 to 5 days before found. 5 handles of rum next to the body. Countless DUI deaths and severe injuries. Also, alcohol is THE gateway drug. Most people I know smoked cigarettes and then weed because they were drunk first.

I'm not in favor of these synthetics or whatever super strains of weed they are producing today. I'm not supporting smoking weed morning noon and night or smoking and driving either. Abuse is abuse but even then, alcohol is acutely worse when it is abused. I dread having to go down Seabreeze blvd and dealing with the sights and smells of what is most likely 90% intoxicated pedestrians and drivers. Im sure we will continue to respectfully disagree about this one.

Most pot is being smoked by people older than me. It’s still illegal for people under 18. As for ease of getting it remember cigarette machines?

I prefer alcohol to marijuana and for me they don’t mix well.

Now, if we just take steps to reverse this obesity epidemic. We don't allow liquor ads or cigarette ads, but we allow McDonald's, et.al to bombard the airwaves with junk food that's as bad or worse than booze and fags.

Even at 80%, it's sold in doses of five to ten milligrams for gummies and distillate or live resin in vape cartridges. You'd have to take a lot of hits to get more than 10 mg in your system. Flower tops out at just over 30%. Edibles are the most problematic but not as much as alcohol.

Cannabis is naturally low in CBD but you can buy strains that are half or more CBD than THC. Most everything I consume has some CBD. I usually keep some CBD gummies around for when I need to level off.
