Two Trump campaign staffers, identified by The New York Times as Press Secretary Steven Cheung and campaign co-manager Chris LaCivita, reportedly got into a verbal and physical altercation with an an official at the cemetery who directed them not to take photos in Section 60, NPR first reported.

Section 60 is the area of Arlington National Cemetery where veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried. “Partisan political activities” at military cemeteries is prohibited by federal law.

The Times only identified the official as a woman who works at the cemetery. She filed a report after the altercation, but ultimately declined to press charges due to fear of retaliation from Trump supporters, the newspaper reported, citing military officials.

The Trump campaign's handling of the episode after details leaked to the media raised some eyebrows among Republicans, particularly a statement in which communications director Steven Cheung said "an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony."

An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside,” the Army spokesperson said in the statement on Thursday.

“This incident was unfortunate, and it is also unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked. ANC is a national shrine to the honored dead of the Armed Forces, and its dedicated staff will continue to ensure public ceremonies are conducted with the dignity and respect the nation’s fallen deserve,” the statement said.​

 

fwiw. When the 13 soldiers' remains were returned, Biden was there for the transfer ceremony and to meet the family of all 13.

It is true Biden was not at ceremony for the anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal that trump negotiated. It is also true that some of these same family members were previously used as props by appearing on stage during this year's RNC.

Good for Army for sticking up for her. I’ve said before, trump will attack any organization or entity who by the nature of their goals strive to be apolitical. We’ve seen this as he attacks the voting system, our courts , media (even Fox when they had to stop lying for him), CDC, even the National Weather Service. And now next up, our military.

1. Trump negotiated the capitulation agreement with the Taliban.
2. Trump dealt directly with the Taliban and left Afghanistan's army out of it.
3. Trump drew US troops strength down to 2500.
4. Trump arranged for the release of 5,000 Taliban fighters, one of whom is the current leader of Afghanistan.
5. Trump closed at least 10 US bases as a result of the capitulation agreement.

You don't have to look up too far to see who is responsible....just a couple of feet.
