Agree Liz but we can sometimes turn guys into Heismen contenders.

It would be a bad idea to think Ward is not a premier talent.

No doubt about that one. In fact, "sometimes" has been a pretty common occurrence for about the last 5 or 6 years now. I'm just not one to give up the ship before the first shots are fired, especially with better depth and athleticism than we've seen in years and a coaching upgrade on the D side. Ward is what he is - a good QB with some talent and not a great deal of success winning big games - particularly on the road. He also has a 44.7% comp. avg. under pressure and a penchant for committing TOs in crucial moments. When he gets substantially above .500 as a starter and improves on the 33% road win mark, I will view him in a different light. That could happen as early as this Saturday, but I frankly doubt it. Being informed by the past is reasonable - when it's a two-way street. Giving up on this team in the run up to the opener is not - at least not because of Cam ward.
    Meh.

And when he did go downfield he wasn’t accurate. Some of the ones he completed he got a lot of help from Pearsall on. At this point in his career he doesn’t seem to have the deep ball in his arsenal.

I respectfully submit that that was then, this is now. Of course we'll see what's what in two days. I'm just not intimidated by Ward's actual track record or the hype.

I agree. I'm just concerned about their offensive line giving him all day to throw or us being off balance because they can run on us which is how I expect them to come out. Run heavy to open up.

They'll try to plow us, maybe get Ward out on the edge some. They won't stop until we stop them.

For sure. But our staff has to make life very difficult for him... and the crowd noise could really rattle him.

He can drop dimes though when he has time. When pressured, he turns into a fumblin’ pumpkin.

With bonus points, depending on how drunk the crowd is.

I didn't mean that you were, Wing. You're obviously a Gator to the bone and I have nothing but respect for your contributions here. I'm just worn out on the media and scUM generated hype over a guy who hasn't proved much of anything as a truly elite, game dominating QB.

Well Miami pulled the QB, receiver and RB from the portal so we'll see how they do on a new team and system. Miami does have a stellar offensive line so that could pose a problem for our revamped defense.
