It is truly weird that certain people are obsessed with and/or are politicizing a condition affecting one percent of the population.

 

This reminds of the histrionics over Obama’s EPA mileage targets. “Conservative” fear porn would have them believing their only car choice by the end of Obama’s term would be a smart for 2.

As it turns out, those “insane” “unachievable” targets were easily achievable, and even if they weren’t, there were so many loopholes so as to be toothless anyway.

The EV “mandate” is surely the same. Hell even this “mandate” aims for 60%, not 100%. Maybe Harris thinks it was a mistake to throw out that number for a “mandate” or that 2030 is unrealistic (esp with EV consumer demand growth tapering off somewhat), but is still generally in favor of pushing increased EV adoption. It may be that the technological breakthrough won’t get us there by 2030, I’d suspect here is a whole second wave of prospective EV buyers waiting to see what happens with solid state batteries and supposedly they start hitting dealer lots in ‘28. That is very likely to be a major breakthrough, but if EV adoption is still only 15% or 20% going into that new generation of batteries - even a major breakthrough probably won’t take 60% share in 2 marketable years.

The bill was cowritten with one author being Senator Lankdord (R) Oklahoma. The bill was a compromise with plenty of things MAGA Rs should have liked. But compromise is a dirty word to Trump, who also didn't want Biden to have a bipartisan win. So Trump killed the bill. And of course, now the bill is the worst thing ever written.

I also want to know what planet, moon, or orbiting ship these immigrants are living on before they reach the US so they have zero environmental impact on Earth until they arrive? Last I looked, we all live on the same planet, and share the environment.

When have we ever had a secure southern border in our history? The answer is never. And if you think Trump actually accomplished something, the Libertarian CATO Institute disagrees. Trump accomplished nothing in regards to illegal immigration. And another fact? Current border apprehensions today are lower than they were in 2019. Who again was POTUS in 2019?

As for immigration and space, we currently only live on about 10.5% of our land. We have plenty of space. We also have plenty of food, especially since we waste between 30% and 40% of our current food supply. We need to be more efficient. We're also not running out of water, but living in a desert, that doesn't mean my family and I will access to clean, drinking water forever. At the same time, we already have over 1,400 desalination plants, and Arizona is in discussion with Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) Mexico about building a big plant down there. Would supply potable water for both Sonora and Arizona. Plus provide more jobs for people in Mexico, which would give them no reason to come to the US.
