They have been lucky to find a plug and play QB since Kirby has been there. Once they make a mistake in that position, they will take a step back and come back down to Earth.

 

It's more about what they have everywhere else than QB. They have bought a loaded 2 deep for years now. Guarantee stetson Bennett doesn't put up half of his stats behind most college football offensive lines or without a defense that rarely makes you play from behind.

 

I'd like to believe this, but they won back to back titles with Stetson Bennett. I'm hoping their defense takes a step back without Muschamp.

 

That did help, but many teams get talented big, strong players all over their team... That little guy they had, Stetson Bennett, was a difference maker the last few years... he was a very underrated QB that was the reason why they won so many games when he was their starter. And now they have another QB in Carson Beck that can make all the needed throws to win... minus the running skills that last guy had...

Before that... they were actually getting rid of 5* start QBs to find the right one. The one that they needed to make a difference. Sure, they messed up along the way, and yes, getting the other position talent made them bigger and stronger than most teams they played. But without that right QB... they lose the Natty's that Bennett helped them win.

Everyone can get big strong players, but without the right QB in your system... you get can still get close to the promised land, but you will NOT win it all. The QB is what separates the contenders from the pretenders.

So, they got lucky with the QB and yes, the rest was needed too, but no one wins the Natty without a great QB.

 

I still can't believe the people don't understand the value of that little QB... and how truly talented he was for UGA.

Napier even recruited him... once upon a time. And it's getting quite clear in coaching circles that Napier is a great judge of talent and evaluator of skilled football players.

SIDE NOTE: Antey1, you really think that QBs don't matter that much?
