you’re joking but I really don’t know if I’m cut out for what’s coming in the next 40 years.

Imagine being an educator, esp. in a writing-intensive course. AI is making lots of waves and I have yet to scratch the surface.

Our universities need to lean in on the development of thinkers versed in ethics within every field of study. Ethics will be a burgeoning field in the next 20 years.

It’s sort of confounding. Language is only relevant if a human is the end user. What is the point once AI models are working with or against other AI models?

I wonder if there’s been previous cases that dealt with inappropriate hand drawings of children. Would that be considered different than AI?

yes, sort of. The fake images are created by competing Neural Networks. But the final product fools the discriminating network. In this instance I am assuming you mean can an AI not used in the creation of fake imagery detect a fake image. That would be very difficult. Possible I suppose, but it would have to have a set of real images and a set of fake images to train on. Finding such data sets would be the hard part.

AI has a broader definition, but most references are to deep learning neural networks.

    slocala - Your comment:

There will be a divergence in society of the Luddites and the technophiles.
Sign up for your cybertronic implants that beam the porn straight into your hypothalamus.

Off topic but - If you remove the word "porn" and just go with:
Sign up for your cybertronic implants that beam information straight into your hypothalamus.

My view, as I have stated several times here, over the last few years, is this is EXACTLY the future
of Western Civilization and more techno advanced countries.

No - I don't believe in aliens, and require firm evidence of conspiracy theories, or Supernatural beings for that matter,
but I firmly believe the next phase of human evolution will not be biological per se, but a fusion of biology and technology
somewhat akin to what you describe.

Ummm, Elon Musk is reported to be looking into something like this right now, among, no doubt, among many other scientific,
    military, industrial and medical entities.

And your comment: There will be a divergence in society of the Luddites and the technophiles.

Goes hat in hand with my belief that this is EXACTLY correct - further defined - the ones "that take the "implants" as defined
by you as "technophiles", ergo, will make it impossible for the "luddites", (those that choose NO), to compete against those
who do, in literally every area of human endeavor.

Nor am I joking, I am convinced it's coming.

Perhaps the biblical description of those with the "mark of the beast" - (something I do not subscribe to) was not all that far off,
when it comes right down to it.

I'm just glad I'm 65 with DNA that pretty much assures me of being dead by 80, if my family cemetary's gravestones are a good
    indicator of Gatorhead life expectancy.

Florida Statutes needs to be tweaked.
    (Relevant portions only)
827.071 Sexual performance by a child; child pornography; penalties.—

    b) “Child pornography” means:
    1. Any image depicting a minor engaged in sexual conduct; or
    2. Any image that has been created, altered, adapted, or modified by electronic, mechanical, or other means, to portray an identifiable minor engaged in sexual conduct.

    (e) “Identifiable minor” means a person:
    1. Who was a minor at the time the image was created, altered, adapted, or modified, or whose image as a minor was used in the creating, altering, adapting, or modifying of the image; and
    2. Who is recognizable as an actual person by the person’s face, likeness, or other distinguishing characteristic, such as a unique birthmark, or other recognizable feature.

As it stands now, the AI child porn creator/possessor can be punished if the images are of an identifiable minor. If that creator allows the face to be created and does use an actual child's face, they escape punishment. That loophole needs to be eliminated.

It's such a weird gray area. you could ask the AI to create a "child like face of an 18 year old" and the loophole hasn't been closed. Couldn't possibly tell you what the answer is.

Yes if the AI has sufficient references.

    I'm with you.

I think there may be multiple ways to answer Fermis paradox, but this scenario has always struck me as a possible answer.

It seems very logical that an advanced society will find a way to "upload consciousness" so as to outlive their natural mortality and exist in realms beyond the here and now.

No need to tackle the challenges of inter stellar travel!

Remove the word "identifiable" from subsection b 2 would be an excellent start.

That’s where the slippery slope comes in. If I drew two stick figures engaged in sexual activity and one was supposedly a child, probably not. But the more vivid and recognizable that image becomes…

and where do we draw that line. Perhaps the AI can create an image that’s extremely lifelike of children engaged in sexual activity but give them angel wings and all of a sudden it’s not children anymore! Would that count?

Shit like this gonna make this slope extra slippery. Will be a nightmare to write these laws without exploitable loopholes.
