To this point,, she’s the Mike white of soccer. Great person, excellent defensively and zero offense. She took over a complete dumpster so she’s not getting fired this year regardless of how the season goes so no use creating a death spiral here, But unless the offense improves dramatically it’s just a ticking clock at this point. 1 shot on goal tonight I think.

In this sport, you absolutely must have a player who can accurately serve the ball into the box; and another who can create a little space in front of the goal, settle the ball in close quarters, and then put the biscuit in the basket. Unfortunately, it's been awhile since UF has had either type.

I was hoping Hinnenkamp would be the one who developed into the close-quarter scorer this year, so that she didn't have to rely so heavily on just trying to create individual breakaways with her speed. But, she's injured.

I'm still a kool-aid drinker concerning Bohon, and it's still early in the season. But, she's got to find someone to step up in each of those roles - and soon. Defense alone isn't going to take this team any further than where they went last year.

All great points. I'm not sure about the coach either, but hoping. I do know that Florida simply hasn't been getting elite soccer players for many years. FSU hired a big time coach many years ago who has just taken our thunder away and keeps getting great player after great player to go to Tallahassee. Even UCF gets better soccer players than us. We've gone from the dominant program in the SEC to a doormat. The last couple of years, we've played solid defense and had pretty good goalkeepers, but have just not had the consistently crisp passing and offensive skill players to put goals on the board.

keep in mind fsu a few days before beat them 10-0, thrashing, and we couldn't score a single -- not a good sign.
Should have handed the keys to one of Becky's assistants when she left, to at least keep it running for a few more years, as they transitioned to someone else.

its going to take time to rebuild, need more junior/senior/grad transfers -- one grad transfer that can score and is a dynamic threat changes this team.
I chose to watch other games last night when i came home late and saw a 0-0 score, expected 4-0 at half.
I'm debating on going to watch them play in person against Ga State on Thursday.

But to counter everything i've said -- its UF, one of the greatest academic schools in the country, with an incredible academic program and facility -- shouldn't be hard to recruit kids there. Should be easy to turn this thing around with the portal.

Time to toughen up, every spot is up for grabs, the entire starting 11, now go out and earn the next few days in practice. I want to see competition like your playing for your life, we have to turn this around.

2 shots on goal is not good. Sad to see this program at the bottom of the barrel.

Well at least the coach is in agreement with us that this isn't going to cut it.

    What Coach Bohon Said:
    On this evening's result:
"This is a great wake-up call for our team. We are so much better than this. They've been great all preseason and spring so it's a super big disappointment for us, not even just the result but how we performed.

"Even if we had scored late, I still would have been unhappy because at the end of the day, we need to keep progressing and moving forward. We didn't progress at all, we went backward. They need to figure out what kind of season they want to have because this wasn't good enough." - Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon

Except it’s been three years of the same problems on offense and she just blamed the kids, while seemingly taking no responsibility.
I have been a fan of hers, she’s trying to do things the right way. And she came into a complete cluster and has stabilized things with the right approach, which was desperately needed after another SS mess up. Maybe this lights a fire, if it does great. But in year 3, with almost entirely her players, the results are on her, good or bad. Time to own it.
    Jmo.

looks like only 3 field players were changed at half. That is when you have to make adjustments. First half wasn't good, you need to do something different in the 2nd half and often it starts with different personal. Something -- as a coach, you have to find the spark in each kid and light it!

ouch just went and started watching 2nd half --- yikes -- way to many careless turnovers, careless balls sent forward with no intent, look like a bad high school team to be honest.
college game drives me nuts though -- they put a premium on fitness vs touches on the ball. fitness comes with playing.
harsh reality -- team is still lacking talent, and UNF is terrible, gang tackling all night.

Gators just standing around, very little off the ball movement. Very tough to watch

These two issues have been plaguing UF soccer since way back in the Burleigh days. My wife is sick to death of hearing me scream at the TV, "Who was that supposed to go to?!?" and "What was THAT???" and "You've got to KNOW where the opposing players are BEFORE you pass the ball!!!"

yea, I had to turn it off. I apologize because parents of players could show up etc -- but that wasn't pretty. Hopefully that game was an outlier, I fear its not.
we beat western Carolina 2-0, who also lost to Queens University of Charlotte - who has only 1300 undergrad students......

Some kids just can't step up and play at the increased speed of play, that's what last game looked like -- kids that couldn't handle the pace of the game and speed of play and this is against a team that just lost 10-0.

I was watching the soccer match against UNF on Thursday and was surprised that Megan Hinnenkamp was not playing. Is she injured?

Already down 1-0. Just can't generate any offense, at least so far. Weather day at the 30 minute mark of the 1st half.

Tied up at halftime: late in the half, a well-timed run by Blom to get onto a good service from the right midfield area by Tellix.

UCF regains the lead on a second bad mistake by the same UF defender.

And UF ties it up after an absolutely inexcusably lazy pass by a UCF defender. Sophie White collects it for a well-controlled chip shot to beat their GK.

    Final: 2-2.

Vera Blom was UF's best player this match; very good work rate. I liked the play of Njeri Butts and Norah Abbott, too.

But, there were a whole lot of issues offensively and defensively on every part of the field. I won't name names, but one defender's mistakes led to both UCF goals, and another player got hot-headed after she was roughly fouled, and she kicked the UCF player (who was on the ground) after the whistle. (UF should have been given a red card, IMO.) Let's see if they can straighten out some of these things as the season progresses.

Zamiyah Hill played at my daughter’s high school and she’s a beast a forward. She had 39 goals last season without much if any help. I hope she gets a chance to shine this year.
