While the RNC nominated an ex-con for President the only ex-cons appearing on the stage for the DNC were the wrongly convicted Central Park Five, who Trump took out a 2 page ad calling for their execution AFTER DNA evidence cleared them of the crime they were convicted.

What? If the ppl funding government recognize that their own government has been co-opted by idealogues who are using the programs they fund against them, there is absolutely nothing un-conservative about seeking to stifle such idealogues doing their polluting through government agencies/ programs they fund, and therefore entrust and empower.

Granted it would be more politically 'conservative' to just pull the plug (defund) all polluted agencies and programs, but it's more conservative (in the classic non-politcal sense--ie to seek to preserve the status quo), and work with the existing structures, without destroying and rebuilding.

I like @92gator. I think he's fairly reasonable although we disagree on a lot of things. I'll just never understand people consuming media that they know they're not going to enjoy watching or is intentionally designed to rile them up. It's not just him, a lot of people seem to do it. Life's too short

If some kind of staid "liberalism" is the status quo institutionally and culturally, what are Republicans "conserving?" .... that's why I said you were a bunch of Bolsheviks lol. Like you dont make Project 2025 if you are like "lets slowly manage inevitable change." You dont hold up signs asking for mass deportations, etc. You dont need to ban books from schools and libraries You dont mass fire people from government agencies and bring back a 19th century spoils system if you are conserving things. Only one party is offering a radical remaking of the status quo, and its not the libs. Shit, the main policy I saw last night on offer was passing the most conservative immigration bill ever devised in recent times!

That's why I distinguished classic from political conservatism.

And what's wrong with banning books FROM SCHOOLS we fund? No one bitched about banning porn from schools, from time immemorial.

...and WTF are you talking about, with "the most conservative immigration bill ever devised"?

We're still THE most porous border on the @#$&n planet.

We still can't afford our own operating costs--That's what those collosal deficits mean--but we pretend to take more net negative ppl in? While our own go and do without????

As for project 25--i must plead ignorant, and decline comment.

Finally, I've said it for years--the Dem party is NOT "liberal"--they were overtaken by PROGRESSIVES.

The difference? Liberals disdain orthodoxy, and embrace open mindedness. Progressives have their own rigid orthodoxy which they seek to cram down everyone's gullet through government (ie authoritarian/ tyrannical)...

    Just. like. Commies. And. Fascists.

...and the Bolsheviks??? (Thats funny, YOU throwing that shit at me, < 24 hours after I used it twice to describe the Dems)...

NB: I have loooonnngggg (as in decades) dismissed the foolishness of the left- right spectrum that has Fascism on the far right, and communism on thr far Left (ie--opposite)--when they're 2 sides to the same coin--BOTH, defined by omnipotent centralized government, notwithstanding what's on paper.

And YES, the Republican Party is the party seeking change--to stem the national tectonic shift to virulent Leftist tyranny.

You must have confused me with someone else (or you're just lamely going for some elaborate variation of "I know you are, but what am I").

Oops.. hadn't actually watched that tweet clip. It didn't have some of the best stuff. Here is his full speech for those who were watching on Faux News and didn't get to watch it since they talked over him and refused to show him.

No they haven't, unfortunately. Maybe they have one seat at the table where they had none before. Kamala and other national Dems have to do some light populism and rhetorical shout-outs to progressives. This is still a country where the majority of people identify as conservative or moderate. Only recently has the number of democrats simply identifying as "liberal" exceeded 50%. And the party leadership and consultant class aren't going to embrace progressivism until its even consistently viable within the party, let alone nationally. Their instinct is to snuff that stuff out when they can not roll with it.

That took courage for Kinzinger to do that. I bet he's lost count of how many death threats have come in from the Trump cultists.

For those of you (like me) who have struggled to figure out how to pronounce Kamala's name, here is a nice short How TO on the proper way to say it...

    Comma (like the punctuation)
    La

But the Trumpeteer base has come to symbiotically resonate “Trump” with themselves. They strangely believe (and Trump tells them this all the time)that an attack on Trump is a literal attack on each of them. Thus, the DNC strategy, which is well conceived, will likely miss its mark.

I mentioned this in another thread - Kamala means a lotus (water lily) in Sanskrit. It is the national flower of India and has a strong cultural significance there.
