Here is 24/7's view of the likelihood of new additions contributing in games for the Gators this season.

This is their list, and I agree with most of it.

I would add Myles Graham and Aaron Chiles to tier 1... They will see the field, especially in the second game of the year against Samford.

Swamp247 has ranked the freshman class by order of impact for the 2024 class,
    breaking them into three tiers:

Tier 1 - Has a good chance to be rotational players by the end of the season

Tier 2 - Has a good chance to contribute on special teams, and a slight chance to work into rotation

Tier 3 - Likely needs a year of seasoning based on depth at respective position or development plan, but could help in some capacity in pinch

Tier 4 – Likely needs a year of seasoning based on depth at respective position or development plan

One of either Jaden Baugh, DJ Lagway, LJ McCray or Gregory Smith III.

I'll go with Lagway (most likely Mertz has some issue along the way)

Lagway will have designed packages specifically for him in games, so he will play, so will LJ McCray... I haven't read much about Gregory Smith, but that doesn't mean he won't play meaningful minutes in games this year.

Those three are sure to play meaningful minutes in games... I hope we get Hawkins out as receiver too, not just special teams.

LJ McCray, absolutely...and it's going to be fun to see Jadan Baugh and how he develops.

Smith was our 20th recruit late last year. He's big and fast. Scouting report:
Big-framed athlete with huge developmental upside as a back-seven defender after playing mostly quarterback his first three years of high school. Measured roughly 6-foot-3.5, 190 pounds with a near 6-foot-9 wingspan spring before senior season. Is still learning how to be a defensive back, but has true sideline to sideline range with his straight-line speed and has shown plenty of physicality on tape. Looks to be most comfortable when he’s working over the top as he hustles to the catch point or to the ball carrier. Must keep improving technique and cut down on the miscues, but could be well worth the wait for someone given how he moves and accelerates for someone his size. Projects as a safety at the next level, but could settle in as more of a box player depending how the body matures over the next few years. Likely will need a redshirt year or two before he’s ready to go, but rare athletic profile (reported a track and field offer from Army) could eventually have him playing on Sundays.

Smith III led Sumner to the Class 4M, Region 2 finals, with the signal caller throwing for 1,633 yards, 32 touchdowns versus just four interceptions. On the ground, Smith III rushed for 409 yards, seven touchdowns and playing defense, the senior made 29 tackles and an interception.

Ex-QBs are very talented football players in general, so he has a head start at changing his position versus someone that played other than QB in his former position. Just look at Kahleil Jackson... he played QB all his life until he was PWO at Florida, and they made him a receiver. He's doing well, and he has two seasons, counting this one, left in Gainesville.

Here's to both Smith and Jackson succeeding in their new positions.

seem to recall a couple of ex-QBs that had decent careers: Chris Collinsworth and Quezzie

Both Will White and Roger Sibbald played quarterback in high school but we're outstanding defensive backs at Florida.

I hope Smith has some quality backup minutes but not too many behind Bridges, Castell, Turner and Douglas. Although Bridges or Douglas may take over Star. A killer at Star would be a welcome surprise.

Speaking evil of Mertz? That is low. He is our only hope of a decent season.

Yeah, those four players seem to have the top two safety groups on lockdown... but playing more than one position is not a bad thing. We need to have players that can play star because it's a very physical position to play and injuries happen. Adding Smith to that group is a good move, IMHO.

Chiles. I just have this feeling that he'll be something very, very special. I don't know why or have anything other than my gut and my heart telling me this... just a really strong feeling.

Yep, I totally agree... Chiles should be on that first tier list that I think will play this season too.

The Tight End was Lucus Krull, who later transferred to the University of Pittsburgh... and he is now playing for the Denver Broncos. We had Pitts, but Mullen the clown couldn't find a way to keep both?... Sad...

Krull was a QB in his younger days, I believe... yes, talented too.
