An intelligent person would play a bit more of the long game though.
Trump should display the occasional barb while mostly appealing to the middle with common sense.
He has the potential to be a real killer.
Everyone knows by now he doesn’t have the discipline.
    Sad for everyone.

Give it a little time? I'm sorry but that you don't have. Some states start voting in 6 weeks

He doesn't have time for the occasional barb. Arizona starts voting 29 days before November 5th in early October and Harris will get a bump after this week

There’s one thing to stay above the fray and quite another to constantly blather like a teenager throwing silly attacks non stop.

Some hard swings now and then but be an adult and talk like one.

It’s like an episode of Housewives of asshole land.

I'm not voting for trump under any circumstances, but the whole "risk of diminishing democracy" bit is complete garbage. These are just BS talking points from both sides who say the other side is going to "end democracy". Anyone who believes that isn't thinking clearly.

This is what I said when everyone said that SCOTUS would keep Trump in power and how Obama would never leave Washington.

    It's just politicking.

The checks and balances will hold.

Obviously we don’t have open borders … but what do any of those have to do with democracy?

The Lefties (RINO's included) are the ones who campaign right/centrist, but go BIG GOV.

Trump scrapped hundreds of big gov regs which served to get us energy indy, cut taxes, and tapped conservative justices who serve as they greatest check to big gov.

All you ever magnify, is how Trump failed to stop big gov from getting bigger, and in some instances, was complicit in expanding gov.

But you cant identify a candy who would do more to slow the growth of gov, or even reduce it.

Correct me if I'm mistaken here--reply to this post with the candy you think is going to reduce government, or more effectively curtail its growth.

Obviously, we do have open borders, which is how millions of illegal immigrants get into our country. Obviously, you've ignored all of the video evidence and testimony from CBP and ICE officials. Obviously, you can't sustain a nation without borders. Democracy doesn't involve illegally importing a new voting bloc to secure power for one party. But, you know all of this.... and people like you will be the reason we lose our democracy.

So we should ask the gigantic government bureaucracies that patrol immigration whether they exist to patrol immigration? Also, it is funny when you start using terms like "importing" to refer to people. As if they are products without agency. It is the tell of how you view people.

    Best Case: she’s drunk.

    Worst Case: she’s not.

Oh, you're pretending they're voting? I should have known. My bad.
Beyond that, can someone else explain to him that the fact that we apprehend people crossing the border means they're not open?

Well, one can make the argument if the goal is to get to the US, and an Illegal does encounter the border patrol, and gets to stay in the US afterwards then that means the border is open, does it not?

No one can toss out a “word salad” quite like Kamala. A lot of people are saying she must be drunk when she says these things, which is ridiculous. She is just a terrible public speaker who simply struggles to get her point across.

Yeah, I mean, who else would think to talk about Hannibal Lecter and sharks and electric motors in a political speech?

Obama noted many times how we can't take democratic government for granted and that maintaining it takes work. That's not a recent observation, of course.

    Avalon Project - Washington's Farewell Address 1796

    Washington's Farewell Address 1796

I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally. This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

    ***

In offering to you, my countrymen, these counsels of an old and affectionate friend, I dare not hope they will make the strong and lasting impression I could wish; that they will control the usual current of the passions, or prevent our nation from running the course which has hitherto marked the destiny of nations. But, if I may even flatter myself that they may be productive of some partial benefit, some occasional good; that they may now and then recur to moderate the fury of party spirit, to warn against the mischiefs of foreign intrigue, to guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism; this hope will be a full recompense for the solicitude for your welfare, by which they have been dictated.

You Say I “might have exhibited millions of Plebians, sacrificed to the pride Folly and Ambition of Monarchy and Aristocracy.” This is very true. And I might hav[, Start insertion,e, End,] exhibited as many millions of Plebians sacrificed by the Pride Folly and Ambition of their fellow Plebians and their own, in proportion to the extent and duration of their power. Remember Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes exhausts and murders itself. There never was a Democracy Yet, that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to Say that Democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious or less avaricious than Aristocracy or Monarchy. It is not true in Fact and no where appears in history. Those Passions are the same in all Men under all forms of Simple Government, and when unchecked, produce the same Effects of Fraud Violence and Cruelty. When clear Prospects are opened before Vanity, Pride, Avarice or Ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate Phylosophers and the most conscientious Moralists to resist the temptation. Individuals have conquered themselves, Nations and large Bodies of Men, never.

With Trump, its a 3rd grade bully vs an adult. The adult usually doesn’t know how to respond to such childish behavior. Neither Romney nor McCain would stoop to 3rd grade histrionics (nor would the public respond to it). I will never understand the willingness of so many to embrace the inanity of so few.
