The markets aren't free when China knocks off every product made in the US & around the world. Facebook, Walmart, and Amazon are easy places for the Chinese to market their knockoffs. Our company has to work nonstop against these foreign knockoffs. They use our logo, copyright, story, and photography.

Recently, I have been advertised Yeti coolers, Costa Sunglasses, and On3 shoes. All fakes. When you think a deal is too good to be true go to the Contact Us page of the website and it will make sense.

I'm all for capitalism but not when it benefits the Chinese. No low or middle-wage earner is for the inflation today that is breaking their backs today, but I believe most would accept short-term pain to bring back manufacturing to the US.

US to the world thirty years ago: “Afraid of a little competition ? Let’s play and find out!”

    US today: “Hey! They’re cheating!”

I'm by no means an expert on "free markets" and what libertarians believe, but generally speaking IP protections are something that seems antithetical to market fundamentalism. We definitely had a few people calling themselves libertarians and anarcho-capitalists that were very much opposed to intellectual property protections as a sort of big government protectionism.

I see the radical commies have decided that firms' IP is some nationalized collective property of the USA. IT IS NOT! A US firm is capable of weighing the costs & benefits of doing bidness in China. As I said in an earlier post, if it directly & significantly impacts national security, gov should take action, otherwise, PISS OFF.

“More broadly, analysts said his tariffs contributed to declines in stock indexes in 2018 by creating uncertainty about the economic outlook.

On paper, Trump’s tariff plans would create a bigger drag on the economy than Democratic plans to let tax cuts on upper-income households expire at the end of 2025, according to Wolfe Research. That is because the effective tax increase would be bigger, and because it would affect lower—and middle-income households, which are more sensitive to changes in costs.“

people bitch about transfers of wealth. That’s exactly what these taxes do - as well as destroy wealth. A 60% tax on foreign economists would transfer wealth to America born economists & away from those hiring us. & it would greatly degrade the quality of Econ in the US.

There are times when I figure the people saying such rubbish know it's false, they're just counting on their audience not knowing.
But all indications are that Trump really is that ignorant.
