I think its pretty apparent that this thread has no conservatives defending the comment that is universally considered ridiculous. Conservatives are getting good at ignoring his nonsense as if it didnt happen though, therefore it probably wont cost him many votes, if any. I realize Rick is stirring it up twisting himself into a pretzel but that doesnt really count.
Focusing on potentially the next stage of things: it will be interesting to see how his cult members react if he loses. Will they continue to construct and dwell in alternative reality? Will they re-form a right-leaning political party that adheres to and has any form of social values? The history we're watching is amazing. Sadly, one thing is certain: the Trump supporters here don't debate in good faith, much less even an acceptance of actual facts. They do not deserve the consideration they refuse to give.
I am optimistically hoping that trump and his merry band of idiots in politics will get pushed aside and this will allow real conservatives to take back over the party. Ideally, years from now someone would be more likely to admit they owned a pet rock than admit they supported trump.
